Watch out, 2008, some classic Bouncy Techno mixes to follow, once I have worked out how to use my Xmas present!
I posted production and gear talk about what I should buy (for a fair price) but dont think people post there much! Im debating weather a CD mixer would be more beneficial or even an mp3 mixer! Your thoughts, comments and sugestions welcome!

If you're gonna be playing bouncy techno you should get good old fashioned record decks and a good record collection... playing old school off cd is just wrong

^^^^ One of my thoughts, there a only a small handfull of CDs (which I own) which have full versions of Bouncy Techno lol Might try to download (legal) mp3 files to put on a cd also for use...

CDJs are boring. seriously. i regretted buying mine shortly after i did. one may be a good idea, yes, but 2... no. i thought they were what i was looking for and after a half a year i sold my cdj 200's. they are so lame.
if you were leaning towards digital, i'd think about serato SSL or something? never used it before but i've heard good things.
cds are just soooooo boring to mix. all the enjoyment you know from spinning records is gone. you sit in front of a flashing box and push some buttons. it's the exact opposite of fun.
vinyl all the way from now on. but that's the benefit of serato. you can still get digital only releases but still maintain the fun-ness of vinyl/using a turntable.
hope that helps... somewhat...?

cds are only fun when u have a pair of cdj1000s, but still nothing beats vinyl. Even with a cdj1000 doing a backspin just sounds fake. And if u cant afford technics tt's u should look at a pair of Numark TTX, TT500 or Stanton t.80 at least + a djm400 mixer and u'll have a nice set to play with at home for a good price :)

Ok, lets just say that one day, I wanted to buy DJ Equipment. What all things would I need? Turntables, of course, but what else is needed to do the stuff like record your own mixes and stuff. What are the basic materials?

you'll need a mixer with two or more audio outputs (1 for your moniters, one to connect to the line in of your pc), you'll need a wave editor program on your pc; audacity, soundforge etc. and a wire that connects to an audio out on your mixer to the line in of your pc (think its a jack to phono) and then ur away :)
