Anyone have any particular unique ways of mixing their hardcore?
Slamming faders? soft safe mixing (crossfader w/ limited eq usage) Sampling, cuts, spinback etc..
When do ya'll drop it in? overlapping vocals but taking mids out? Or after the last breakdown towards the outro? Any tips for keeping energy up without slicing up songs halfway?
discuss.

Usually I just slam together as many tunes as humanly possible together, dropping whenever it feels right. A lot of the time I'll drop the second tune so that it breaks down in sync with the first tune's second breakdown.

it depends whats being mixed thts why you need to know your vinyl like the back of your hand.
If its something by Sy & Unknown i drop it at almost the end of the 2nd peak as the intros and outros are always so small.
However has anyone mixed dance with me by heaven 7? Jesus, i usually cue it up 16 bars in and then i have to drop it at the end of the 2nd breakdown. Thats one mighty long intro.

I do lots of cuts and mix over peaks typically. Although I do lots of EQ work and sometimes add some samples. Don't ever really do any slow crossfading. I did a spinback once that sounded good. hahaha.
It honestly depends on the song and the style. SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS MY HEAD ASSPLODE.

there's no way to answer that... the whole point of mixing is to vary what you do! no formula = sounds better. formula = boring!

i find a lot of heaven 7 to be very trancey, lending more to the trance style of mixing of gradual eq changes and crossfader sliding, which would explain the really long intro!
edit: and i guess the conservative answer to your question would be right after the 2nd breakdown.

having no fx on the pio's, and not having fx's on my mixer i fiddle with the eQ's alot.
and someone already said it. Depends on the track. but i do prefer coming in with full bass of the incoming when the beat starts back up from the outgoing track.

I only use a crossfader for scratching, the rest of the time only upfaders and gain with EQ.
But it depends on the track, I don't stick to one style as it doesn't work for everything.
