Hey Everyone,
Just keen to see if any of you have been to areas surrounding Vietnam and have any interesting experiences that you would like to share.
I am going on holiday over there on the 21st Dec. I am landing in Ho Chi Minh city then travelling through Cambodia and flying out of Bankok on the 20th of Jan.
Im not going on a tour or anything else so im just going to do it with my gf and we have no plan. Anyone been there with past experiences or any other advice? im keen to hear :)

Watch out for land mines. If it was me I would go and see the underground tunnel system used by the Vietcon during the war with the Yanks.

I went to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) at the beginning of this year. If you haven't been to any asian countries before you would be very surprised about how crowded it can get. The people there are actually very welcoming and respectful. Just make sure that you do not get ripped off, because I found conversion of money a big hassle (make sure you count the zeros of the price before you pay, lol). And remember to not drink the water there (only bottled) and I would avoid eating salads as they do wash them with contaminated water. Otherwise the food is amazing. You'll be amazed to see how the streets come to life at night with merchants trying to sell things. Seeing that you're also from Australia, it will probably be a memorable trip for you.

hmm, from what I've heard great food and experience.
Personally I avoid Vietnam,
1. Because I'm Vietnamese myself (don't ask)
2. Hygiene isn't really on top of their priority list
Just be careful where you eat, there are some dodgy places out there, other than that, enjoy dude! and remember to get your shots xD

I'm sorry but I don't how it differs from eating pork or chicken or beef. However, I can't eat anything I've seen alive, but other than that, I'm not picky. I still wanna taste aligator!

they slaughtered a bloody dog just because they wanted to be different i guess. i am nearly vegetarian after watching a couple of videos of how it gets from the cow to the plate.
