Has anyone else noticed this!!
The track Bring me back on Lethal Theory 002 seems to be a lot quieter than the other tracks on the vinyl & when you come to mix It with another track you can really hear the difference!!
Strange??

^^I did notice that. Was a bit odd.
Isn't this Lethal Theory 001 though [the picture disc?]
Just pump up the highs and mids when you mix it.

bring me back is on LTR001.
you wouldn't happen to be talking about the original pressing of this, the picture disc? because that would explain why it's quieter ;)

use your gain knob. It's like turning the volume to 11 when most mixers go to 10

A gain knob? I've never heard of it. What is it? Does it like adjust the volume or something on a track but not on the channel fader. Is it kind of like increasing the volume because some songs are louder than others?
What a novel idea! :P

i do. i put "the new shit" in a mix and both the track before and after it, i'd left the gain nob set standard, and i had to have the gain for "the new shit" turned up full but you could still hear a huge difference between the tracks.

nah dont think a digital would sound much better on a turntable ;)
i've had it for ages now, only play it every now and again, so not much point.

If you use cd media to mix as well as vinyl, you may try this:
Record the song into Soundforge or another recording software. Upon doing so, beefen up the volume on the end result, then burn to cd.
If you enjoy playing and or hearing the tune, it will create a louder version of the track but you can play it directly from a cd. I've had to do that with a few Force and Styles tracks of old since they too were a little quiter than the rest.
It may help :)

ah, well one thing that may help may even boil down to needle choice. There are some needles that produce a much warmer sound and that may help with all of your records. Also, if you balance your needles, the needle won't have to work so hard to produce the sound and eq'ing works a little better. I just went and listened to the particular vinyl that you were speaking about and found what you were talking about. It may just have to be chalked up to a loss :(

Dont know if your being serious or not, but generally the point of the gain is to set your 0db mark. This is particularly helpful when doing mixing for a band. set your gain for each instrument to se tthem all on an equal level, then fader for how loud you want your instrument. gain with mic's is kinda tricky cos to much gain n all hell breaks loose with feedback

That's nice for you, but i never 'auto' anything when i'm mixing.
Guess i'm just old fashioned.
