I'm looking into getting some sort of DJ equipment or set that isn't too expensive but will let me experiment and teach me how to do basic things. Any help would be appreciated.

you'd probably be lookin at a DJ in a box kinda kit with 2 belt drive decks, a mixer and really bad headphones. it's basically th;e worst equipment you can buy, but the cheapest as you said.

try and find used equip, and look for direct drives turntables, because belt drive are just toys basically and don't sound near as good.

the minimum you'll need to start spinning is some records, 2 decks, a mixer and maybe your parents hi-fi system to plug it all into. computer speakers even work, but again, small speakers aren't so great.

starting out, lookin for used stuff will get you the biggest bang for your buck, esp with records (the most expensive part... )

Second hand is definately the way to go, you can get twice the quality for the same price as something new, or half the price of what you can buy new!

Yea definatly go for second hand Direct drive dex, i started on TT1510 numark belt drives and the experience nearly put me off Djing.Start cheap and improve yourself and just save save save for some 1210's or one of the "top flight" decks thats around nowadays.

Actually got quite a funky looking camouflage gemini mixer with my Dj in a box package tho lol.

Definitely.

Try and find some second hand Technics 1210 decks.

Mixer isn't as important but a cheap one will soon break and/or start to bleed. If you can afford it try and pick up a ueri 1601 mixer. As they're end of the line you can get them at under half price new @ HTFR or you might be able to pick up a real bargain if you can find one second hand...

Honestly it really depends on if you think this is somthing you really want to do .If so than I would jsut save up the cash and go with some direct drive turntables as belt driven are more a pain than they are worth and you will jsut have to up grade in the end.

Mixer at this point as you have been told doesnt really matter .I would sugest a DJX700 berhinger .Berhingher doesnt provide the greatest sound but this model is the best of them all and it is pretty cheap.
