What does everyone think of distorted kicks in Old Skool Gabber? I cant get enough! Over the last few months I have been getting into alot of this Old Dutch stuff and love it when I hear that 'noise' it makes, like a buzzing fridge lol
One track that really stands out for me is Genaside's (Scott Brown) Night Of The Apocalypse on Twisten Vinyl (1996) The American's also produced some nice destored kicks such as DJ Delirium!
Your views on destorted kicks?

I absolutely love old Gabber, and of course, distorted kicks! Listen to Hixxy's mix from Dreamscape 28, he plays a few really really good Gabber tunes :)

Love them! I remember reading somewhere a description of the distorted kicks in gabber and they said "Sounds like banging a hammer on a concrete floor really hard in a very echoey room" something along those lines, which id of thought would be pretty accurate lol.
One Gabber tune i love the kick in is "Scythe - Never wake" top class gabber tune

my fav distorted kick is the one used in alot of antisocial tunes..
i love the idea of putting an agressive, low end distorted kick under cheesey stabs and piano.

^^^ Hixxy used to do alot of that to make it stomping lol Why wont he do that now? The likes of Devestate and TnC are not shy of having hard 'beats' either its a shame this stuff never gets on the main compilations really! One Hixxy track that I really like (which I mentioned before) is Wanthing to Get High which he did with Sharkey on hecttech in 1996! When I first heard that I started noticing hard beats in the old Hardcore which is why I like that more than the new Hardcore! Then I started getting into Bouncy Techno...
Expect the mixes im uploading next year to have alot of destored kicks!
