Yeah, that's not DJ'ing though. That's a live PA.
Two different things in my opinion.

Read my post again. I'm sorry I didn't explicitly state that I wasn't classifying someone who does Live PA's as not a DJ or even below DJ'ing on the spectrum of musical performance. Perhaps that would've avoided you misinterpreting my statement.
I wish I could do a Live PA, seems a lot cooler imo. :P

to me the definition of dj'ing is playing music. like radio dj's for instance, they aren't mixing records but they are the o.g. dj's. while doing a live pa you are playing music for people hence still having the ability to be called a dj.
see, i'm not new to dj'ing nor do i claim to be the know all about it, but to call a spade a spade, i make it simple for anyone that wants to come at me like that, djs play music.
except for my friend only sometimes plays other peoples music, he only does that when he's mixing music using cds or vinyl.
other than that it's his own creations.

I don't disagree with you at all. I do think that there is a difference between mixing a set and a Live PA, not that they are entirely unrelated. Otherwise there wouldn't be a different word for it.
And I think what Xexian is talking about when he says mixing and is talking about turntables and such, is DJ'ing in the sense of mixing other people's music.

from what i gathered from what he/she was saying is that they may have thought that the dj that mixed the cd made it as though it was just one long song rather than a bunch of songs mixed seamlessly.
