We played a terrible game, managed to go 2 - 0 down in 15 mins. We pulled it back to 2-2 and then croatia scored because our defense played like a bunch of school boys!!
I think Alan Hanson said it best "We played like a team of strangers"

Just watching **** head McLaren on Star Sports, he looks so vacant and like he does not have a clue about whats just happened. It looks like he seems to think he was watching another match!
Saying that though, I think alot has to be put on certain players. I mean, Eg Gerrard - we had a free kick bout mid way in the first half just outside their area, he let Barry take it...if it was Liverpool "super Gerrard" would'nt have let anyone else take the kick. He bottled it, same as the rest of the team, McLaren & Erickson before him.

must say England had much the easiest group of the 4 home nations and played the worse by far! didn't deserve to go through! proud of the Welsh result tonight in Germany with our under 21 side basically! our under 21 side (average age 18 because so many better players were drafted in to play tonight) stuffed the french under 21 side 4-2 last night! after a 4-0 win against Serbia on Saturday, so things are looking up for us in the future!

England were truly awful first half. The idea of the formation given the players available wasn't to bad, it seems that somehow the players are incapable of playing in anything other than a 4-4-2.
Second half they were a little better although rarely looked like scoring and were lucky the Croat defender gifted them a penalty.
Hopefully this farce will be a kick up the backside English football has need for the last 10-15 years. The coaching of youngsters in this country needs a complete overhaul. Ball retention is vital in international football and is something we seem incapable of.
