I'ma newbie on this site so please be gentle.. lol
only my second adventure into hardcore production...
this is a remix of a trance track that I really liked and thought it would sound tight as a hardcore track.
lemme know what I think.. I have some idea of what needs to be changed and if someone said the same thing then I would know for sure.
Can't find anyone who knows anything about hardcore to tell me anything constructive on the other forums I go to so I come here.

As I listen to the intro, not bad for a second production. You definitely have the right idea, but the percussion is pretty bad. And, the bass is not right at all. >_>
Mixdown is really important!! There is virtually no kick, just a loud bass that's a sub bass with no layers.
I wish I could give you more advice, that's not my field though.
Seems like you have at least a pretty good idea for how it should sound, but lack of experience is just making things not come together right.
Keep going, and take the advice that people give you on this forum, it's very helpful...mine excluded because I don't really know what I'm talking about...
:D

yeah now that I listen more closely the kick could pop more. perhaps some more compression or maybe a different kick all together. I will probably spend more time on the bassline next time and try to get it to sound more current and not old, someone says the D&B breakdown makes it sound old as well like 2001. and I thought the D&B was the hot shit. lol
I'll spend more time on the perc kick and bass next time.
thanks
I need a better mixdown program then the stock one cubase provides.

lol, I am sure ian is busy with his own tracks, besides I am never going to learn if I don't do it myself.. but I'm sure in his hands he could make garbage pail samples sound like a hit.

Well, making the track is one thing but you've still got to have it mixed down, and sometimes that's waaaay harder than actually producing the tune. Alot of producers use engineers. I know personally a bunch of upper tier hardcore dj's and producers that use engineers. It's common practice.

yeah that's a good point. most all the big labels have huge mixing studios to mix down there shite.
I'll talk to him about it but I doubt he would do it for free.
do you ever play those old school D&B rasta rekids I sold you a couple years ago. I miss em.
