I just thought id make a topic up to see if any of you like me, collect hardcore cd singles
I mainly have alot of the Dutch happy hardcore on singles.
I have some collectables i bought off this scottish person, Including some hard to get ones.
Id say i've roughly got about 60-70. I'll have to list them sometime.
Anyway, post if you'd like to share!

to be totally honest, Ive only seen 2 hardcore singles at the store personally and I bought them. I've never purchased any from online record stores though. Don't know why just never really have. I guess now that cdjs are almost more popular than turntables it wouldn't hurt to get cd singles. do alot of labels make them available?

So far I've only got downloads in my collection. If big labels started releasing CD singles I'd be very excited though. The main thing that keeps me from purchasing vinyl right now is the expense (for turntables, mixer, etc) I don't mind paying 10 bucks or whatever a record costs and I wouldn't mind buying CDs for that price either.
Plus, isn't it cheaper for the companies to make a run of CDs than pressing vinyl?

haven't seen many either. IMO sells them every once in a while, but in canada we don't see many.
i'm sure other countries have more though, i think you made mention of holland...
i'm constantly noticing on discogs that some older artists have released CD singles. i don't think it's as popular of a method of distribution -- i mean personally, if i'm gonna spend the money at all, i'd rather spend maybe a little more and get vinyl. cds wreck easily; it's a fact. they don't age well either.
when i owned cdj's i downloaded around 20 tracks from a few different places but really... i think cdj's are missing something. i can understand the appeal of wanting to collect them and props for having approx. 70 different ones, but it just isn't for me.
to answer your question though, i don't own any professionally made CD singles.
can you give some... examples?

You can always make copies/store it on your harddrive and keep the original in good condition.

The place i mainly got everything was on eBay.
I was lucky a few times by managing to get the odd few from 2nd hand stores etc.
Discogs will have alot obviously.
21st century... i can recall Styles & Breeze having 2 Top.40 hit singles in the uk. With 'your shining' being one of them... this was when that new phase started i beleive
Not long ago it was:
Scott Brown vs ultrabeat - elysium (i go crazy) at #35 in the charts.... but it was more clubby stuff

I wouldn't say there is a market now-a-days for it at the moment to bring out singles of the new hardcore.
As we have the compilations with, how the clubland 4 bitch said 'everything on the cd'.

Personally, I notice people who enjoi listening to Cascada will listen to her, but not any other artists of the same type of music. I think her music style is okay for some people, but as soon as they hear the same type of beats but no lyrics like an actual song, they dislike the sounds. I can't quite explain what I mean. I hope you get what I'm saying.

Yeah i get were u coming from, but the two songs i mentioned both have quite alot of vocals in too, yet they barely make the top 40 and i fink they aint too dissimilar from cascada. but now i come to fink bout it, my ex g/f really liked cascada, coz they r on radio in clubs in magazines, on t.v etc so u r exposeed to them, but i doubt she even knew the song 'sure feels good' exists otherwise i know she would have liked that

Most people who listen to "chart music" just listen to what they're told to. I don't think it's always because they don't have their own opinion, sometimes people just aren't as in to music and listen to what they like out of what is played (radio, tv, pubs, "down town" clubs) and in their face 24-7.
I should think tracks like "Elysium (I got crazy)" get into the charts because they are popular within their genre and that genre is big enough for it to have some sort of chart success. I very much doubt many actual "chart music shoppers" buy this sort of track.
I don't have any CD singles but I have a whole room full of vinyl ;)

Yeah that makes sense actually, i mean, i like the song elysium i go crazy but i never bought the single, i bought the vinyl.
i fink most people who r into hardcore, buy the tracks on vinyl or mp3 or they feature on compilations rather than a single, but not many chart listeners would buy cascada on vinyl

That's not really what I was saying... Vinyl sales still count towards the chart I think.
