doing that is retarded, you'll be ****ed over anytime you play out
and if you're just doing it to record sets, record them and pitch them up in software afterwards
either way, music sounds retarded if it's pitched up too much
off key stuff like that is for the tonedeaf

Your getting the wrong end of the stick mate i never done it so my mixes sound like the chipmunks i done it coz i have a lot of oldskool rave/hardcore tunes and back in the day the bpm`s were all different although the music woz of the same genre and u tended to run out of pitch trying to mix 1 tune in2 the other. They were the days where u had to be able to use a set of decks be creative n all that not like nowadays. Tunes nowadays are made for mixing and tend to be the same speed and sound the same so really all u need to do is beat match n throw the fader back n forth.

i have an older pair of 1210 M3Ds, and i'm finding that i run into that problem every now and then.
is there a way to adjust the pitch so it can go higher than 8%?

hence why I bought m5gs =P
I wouldn't bother w/ adjusting the pitch unless you have 3 tables. If you try this it can get harder to zero in on the exact speed when mixing. I've seen some people loose the ability of the table to hold a constant tempo. I think the highest it will go after the adjustment is +/-12

Just bring your overall speed down a touch. I play oldskool and hardcore breaks and don't have a problem. If you're inventive, like you say you are, then it shouldn't be a problem. ;)
I manage to play oldskool through Breaks, Techno, Hardcore, DnB and into Gabber in the same set on my MK3's without a problem.
Don't mess with your decks. As for people pitching their decks so they can play a genre faster... Oh dear. :p

Yeah got cdj`s but have a shit load of vinyls i can`t be bothered to convert right now. It is harder to beat match with the pitch turned up i admit thats why ive turned it down. They needed tweaking anyway one deck was faster than the other so i just put the pitch fader to zero and matched it with the strobe to get them back to normal. IS THIS CORRECT???

Why would you want to speed them up?
If the +8% aint enough simply don't mix that record in!
Me personnally i try never to have the tracks over +4% the only time i would break that rule is if i am qucik mixing in and out of the tracks

I wanted them speeded up because i have some oldskool HARDCORE if anybodys old enough to remember what that was like and the likes of bass generator, shoop records etc they will c where im coming from. And for our over seas friends hardcore in those days was very different from what u are listening to now and the reason you have probably not heard this stuff is because a lot of it was from THE SCOTTISH SCENE REZERECTION ETC. Yes i have cdj`s but ive not got round to converting my vinyl yet.
Cheers

yep, that's how you do it!
you can do -/+ 16
for your use I guess it's justified...but I'd just build a set that follows BPM and increases in speed, when you'll be at the club you won't have 32% range

i have piched my technics upto about +- 10% and they are perfectly fine, they have been done for over a year now and never a proplem, i know a few other people that have done it and never had an issue either, you do need to remember that you can go way ott with it though. i think there is room to pitch it upto +-16% whicb is way too far imo. 10% is just right for me
if you wanna know how to do it give me a shout through pm, i might take a while to reply though cause ive not get the net where im living now and only come to parents now and again
