Hi do u guys find when beat matching when you`ve got it perfect and its doing what they call phasing when the 2 beats r really tight do u find after this it can still go out? Ive been told when you`ve got the beats as tight as that thats it it wont go out but i find it does is this normal? Also i watched a guy on you tube supposedly showing everyone how to beat match getting 2 tracks perfect just using the pitch fader and not touching the platter he said "if you use the pitch fader and touch the platter your contradicting yourself" ive always used the platter to slow the record down or speed it up by spinning the center of the record then adjusting the pitch. He sharply moves the fader up and down for this effect. I`ll attach the clip tell me what yous think.

It can be done but you need to get the pitch back to exactly the same place it was before you adjust it - not good imo.
I use the platter and the pitch adjust, guess it's just horses for courses.

that's obviously a way to do it, i tried that for a while when i first started and couldn't really get the hang of it... didn't feel like pursing it further because just touching the platter/record works perfectly fine for me

I've always found it easier just to speed up and down using the pitch, Never touch the platter...
Different strokes for different folks innit, Or something along them lines.

dj upload: are you using belt drives? i found that happening a LOT when i used belt. the beats were in sync one second, then they weren't the next.
even with direct, when i think i have them matched (i can do 90% of the work within 2 bars now, if that is the correct term) i don't touch anything and let both records play. over the course of a few more bars, i'll still notice one track being marginally faster than the other. it's faster by almost nothing, but that small difference gets larger the longer you let them play.
you can only notice this once they have been matched (but really what i'm trying to say here is that there's usually still a little more fine tuning to go once you THINK you have them matched, u know?)
all i can say is let them both play for a LONG TIME once they are matched, and in most cases, you'll still notice one is faster, adjust the pitch by the smallest amount (like literally a hair) and you should be good.
also, you can always use finger as a sort of bookmark as to where your pitch was initially when pitch riding. i do that for mixing with the crossfader.

so what are you gonna do if youve got the tempo matched and you decide to go for a different cue point. You stop the vinyl and then you're out of the cue by a hair... so you change the pitch fader to put it back in sync?
**** THAT!
why do what takes longer when you can move the platter and take less than a second to do and you have 0 chance of ****ing it up.
I just cant get my head around it.
