WARNING! THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Anyone been to see this yet? And if you have, have you read the books?
I loved the books and was relatively impressed with most of the film, but naturally I was pissed off with several elements. Firstly, a lot of it looked like it was made by CG, which I hate. Secondly, the casting could've been better. I was satisfied with Dakota Richards' (Lyra Belacqua-Coulter) performance, and Daniel Craig (Lord Asriel) was fine for the amount of time he was on film. Nicole Kidman looked the part and did an okay job, but was quite obviously a baddie. The book didn't have goodies and baddies, everyone was in their own way a protagonist. But in this, there are people who are obviously evil. On a less important point, the title 'Northern Lights' is better than 'The Golden Compass'. And of course, the most important problem: the ending. Three words: what the hell!? If you read the book, you'd know that there is at least another 50 pages from the film's ending to the book's ending. The book ends with Lyra and Roger making it to Lord Asriel's hide-out and Roger being taken and separated from his daemon, with which the particles of dust coming from the remains of Roger's daemon. With those particles of Dust, he creates a portal to another world through which Lyra crosses to Citagazze. So you see why I'm pissed off with the director. But all in all it was still an enjoyable two hours and I was not bored at any moment. I'd recommend it to all who have not read the book and to those who can bear not seeing the end of the book.
