4g weights & anti skating

Can anyone tell me why Technics decided 2 start putting 4g weights on top of the headshells on some models i never had them on my mk2`s but there on my mk3`s and can anyone put in easy words what exactly the anti skating is for???

i fort anti skating was something to do with the force of the needle working its way to the centre of the record, u just adjust the anti skating until the record plays smooth, otherwise it may, for eexample, just play the same line over and over. not 100% sure tho

most "hifi" cartridges track between 1 and 2 grams. most dj cartridges track between 3 and 5 grams.

you set the anti-skate dial to coincide with the tracking force... in other words, if the tracking force is 2 grams, set the anti-skate dial to "2". The exception is for scratch djs and back-cue. Their anti-skate must be left on "0"

dont have a clue about the headshells mate

when a record spins the needle wants to jump out the groove, but the anti-skate counter acts the force pushing the needle out of the groove. i dont know how it works but if you have anti-skate on it only works when the record is playing normally, if you back cue the record its more likely to jump out the groove than with the anti-skate off
