Does anyone have cd turntables and convert there vinyl onto cd. Im just trying to convert my whole vinyl collection to cd ITS GONNA TAKE 4EVER!!! LOL. Ive found that the quality isnt that great sounds muffled (not clear) like theres not enough hi`s and mid`s. Im putting 1 of my turntables straight into a usb interface and adjusting the gain correctly then to the laptop. Can anyone shed some light on this??? Am i doing something wrong?
Cheers

Make sure your cord is the right cord.
You should be going from an RCA out into whatever the LINE IN is on the USB interface, and not the MIC IN.

Im using preamp phono line in. Then usb into laptop. Ive got a filter on the interface that was on at the time thats for getting rid of any unwanted noise maybe thats taking some of the Hi`s and Mid`s out??? I`ll try it with the filter off.
Cheers

Yeah take the filter off and make sure you're grounded. That's the only advice I can give. If it's not just a recording level issue (try pumping the gain keeping your recording level at like 0.5 db or something...).

Still not gr8 a bit better. What ive done is recorded one track lots of different ways gain up n down on the interface etc then put onto a cd then play the copied track on my cdj`s and the original vinyl on one of my turntables then cross the fader back and forth and what ive found is the cd is not as good quality (i dunno if u can get cd quality recording through vinyl with basic recording software etc) but it almost sounds like the record is surround sound and the cd aint???

Make sure you are recording in stereo.

considering the USB dongle is fairly new, it should record in stereo.
Anyways, you will always get unwanted noise record, and best way would be to clean it out (even tho in very crackly cases, this wont do much help).
At The Moment I'm using Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 11, and Im recording my vinyls with a USB dongle I got with Sound Rescue Terratec (which includes it's own cleaning software). Before that I used a old amplifer set (which is basicly ruined now) and cleaned the files with Steinberg clean

First of all, record the audio without proccessing it first, to diagnose wether it's the proccessing or the recording that's bad, secondly, when recording analogue sound the resulting audio is always directly dependant on the quality of the audio chain, and in this case the biggest factor in the quality will be your analogue/digital converter which is the audio interface. Unless you have a proffesional a particulaly good audio interface the sound will never be amazingly good, but it shouldn't be too bad either as long as you do it right. Post up an mp3 clip of your recording!

That recording sounds fine really for what you used to record it with. Atlhough it sounds mono to me, or is that just because of the site its hosted on?
What turntable and carts are you using too? Because that is going to be the biggest factor before anything else. As long as your not using any kind of preamp anywhere too, the signal is always going to be pretty weak.
That interface is good enough to get an at least decent sound, so it's just down to how good the turntable and your gain staging is.
