Hardcore Underground both of them and Bonkers 17 are excellent CDs.
The likes of Clubland X Treme Hardcore 3, Hardcore Andrenaline 2 = rubbish.

i hate to call 96-99 stuff oldschool, its happy hardcore. its the correct name for it. oldschool is usually pre 94 depending.
Its all Hardcore dude. It just depends on what sub-genre you like. I still call today's Hardcore "Happy" Hardcore because the majority is still happy/uplifting/cheesy, whatever you wanna call it. Even back in the 90's, not every Happy Hardcore track was "in your face Happy!, but it was still listed as "Happy Hardcore". I dont like calling it "UK Hardcore", because that could mean any form of Hardcore produced in the UK. I either call it HHC, Hardcore, Freeform, or Gabba.

Does it make you feel all warm & fuzzy inside? What about the 2008 remix of "Lifeforce Genearator", its all jolly and happy. And what about Storm's tracks, Some of them put a smile across your face. All I am saying is that the majority still is the same base as the older stuff. I said I either call it "Happy Hardcore" or just simply, "Hardcore".

must agree some of the hardcore coming out now is disappointing, some of scott browns,sy,unknown, dougal, hixxy , some of the stuff these guys have done over the last year and a half 2,2 years has been very disappointing, going back 2 hardcore heaven 3,i remember when first listening 2 it thinking that it was the worst sy mix i,ve ever heard(i,ve got true hardcore and hardcore euphoria but can,t remember if there worse i think they were poor also)but there is certain cds i will avoid like ha,cleh, stuff like that 4 2 reasons, theres that much cds cuming out these days i running out of room 2 put them lol,and some of the stuff seems disappointing 2 say the least, but i will continue 2 buy bonkers,hu and other stuff which will catch my eye,as the 2 cds i know i,ll be geting this year r scott brown livewired(even though i,ve been a bit disappointed with him,its prob more 2 do with the dvd lol)and hu2 as i havn,t got round 2 geting it yet, mite get rave nation but prob not, then of course whatever bonkers cums out and that new hardcore nation depends on the djs

im sorry, but you think True Hardcore is what should define hardcore in 2007? if so - you're bloody right. it's shit!!
I didn't say it "defined" hardcore in 2007 - it was a good solid album, unlike some others CLXH4 for example.
CLXH 4 was soooooooo housey i thought true hardcore was allright. not the best cd ever but certainly not the worst hardcore compilation Cd i have Bonkers 17 was the best 1 since 13
I would think if anybody was to define the scene this year it would have to be helter skelter didnt they have 3...4 compilation cds out this year???

I think that elements of the music and scene have been steadily improving since end 2006.
I also think, in a reasonably informed way, that 2008 will be very exciting. For my part, I'll keep pushing the agenda of varied albums ( both in terms of artists and styles featured ) and scouring the scene for new and promising talents to encourage.
In fact I'd say 2008 has already started off with something excellent. You'll see :D
When people start approaching albums and live mixes, not to mention events, with some sort of eye on the wider scene and state of the music the things will improve. It's happening, slowly, but unless those efforts are supported it's all for not. Promoters seriously better sort themselves out this year; there's F** all point people putting effort in on every other front if promoters keep failing to support anything but the establishment.

I think Hardcore is taking influence off mainstream music and trying to meet demand.
For the Nu Hardcore, Bonkers 11 was a peak, i remember when Breeze, Styles, Hixxy and Re-Con were producing some phat tunes like; Takin' Me Higher, Steam, Drop the Beats, Free Again.
The trancy sounds of Hardcore is where its at, because we cannot go back to Happy Hardcore that's for sure. I think Freeform is the up and coming direction of our music, with artists such as Firefly, S3RL, Jakazid, Darwin, Arkitech.
Upfront Hardcore at the moment is pretty bad in my opinion, Sy & Unknown haven't impressed me since they released 'Rock it Like This.' Styles & Breeze have gone all commercialised, Hixxy only produces (it seems) for every Clubland X-tream (which is crap).
The only top DJ's i have faith in now are; Scott Brown, Dougal & Gammer, Sharkey, Joey Riot & DJ Kurt, Seduction, Robbie Long & Stormtrooper.
Otherwise...... exactly!

Steam was written by G Spencer & Gammer

Why not move forwards instead of backwards?
Think very few labels have been moving forwards for a fair few years now. Problem is those labels are the only ones the casual fans will hear.
