I wrote this last night while bored!

It began when I was younger (about 6) I used to like what is called 'Eurodance' like 2 Unlimited and the similar stuff from the early-mid 1990s which was my first taste of 'dance music'

I later went through the 'pop music phase' around the age of 9-10 but also liked the dance sounding stuff and something always intrigued me towards what I heard in the early-mid 1990s. After the age of 12 I started getting into dance, and Trance came along which was something I started listening to along with the more commercial stuff and I also liked Flip & Fill completely unaware of the tracks they made were all old Happy hardcore classics from the 1990s! Those were dark times, the music was what I turned to for enjoyment, I even liked the ¡¥Techno¡¦ music from my beloved PC, The Sims! :D

By the age of 16 I finally left school (the roughest school in Poole at the time) and have fond memories of listening to Ibiza, History of Hard Dance on the bus on the way to college! I still own these 3 cds and their pink box has seen better days lol ļ

It was February 2004 me and a mate where in a record shop in Bournemouth which was Destiny Records which sadly closed! ƒ¼ I was talking to the guy who worked there and interested in the dance music of the 90s and ended up listening to a CD which had DJ Demo¡¦s Got a feeling on it. It was the first Happy Hardcore track I ever listened to and needless to say I brought the CD; Hardcore Heaven live at the Sanctuary Milton Keynes, Summer 1996! It was a free CD but I don¡¦t know which album it would have been from but I guess it might be Hardcore Heaven: vol. 1!

I was now having a taste of Happy Hardcore, some ten years after it first emerged and had since ¡¥died out¡¦ ƒ¼ Not long after I got a custom made CD with random Happy Hardcore tracks thrown onto it, some had been taken of mixed CDs (such as Bonkers I later found out) and while I knew none of the tracks on the CD (of about 12-14 tracks) later I would! :D

Next while searching on google one day while bored I typed Happy Hardcore and came across a CD on Amazon called Happy 2 B Hardcore chapter 4! After listening to a sample of Scott Brown¡¦s Everytime I close my eyes I decided to buy it!

By summer 2004 I was listening to both Happy Hardcore and the modern mainstream dance and when I started back at college I was talking about liking Hardcore and another girl on the course recommended Bonkers! The next CD I got was The Ultimate Hardcore Album mixed by Sy & Unknown. It had 6 CDs, three were mixed while the other 3 were unmixed. This had many a great classic on it including the first Bouncy Techno track I heard (although im sure I heard some before 2004) it would be my favourite track on the album, Bass Reaction- Technophobia!

My Happy Hardcore chapter 1 finally arrived after ages of waiting which although had 16 tracks was amazing from start to finish! This is full on Happy Hardcore and 3 tracks stood out, JDS- Higher Love (Slipmatt Remix), DJ DNA- Go insane and Hixxy (and Sharkey) Wanting to Get High! That track got me into hard kicks which is something that most new Hardcore lacked ƒ¼

In November 2004 I got my first Bonkers which was Bonkers 13, Hardcore Horror show which was another brilliant buy! It was far better than Clubland 6 imo lol Hixxy¡¦s mix was an Old Skool mix which was am treat!

In early 2005, two more compilations came out; Hardcore Heaven (mixed by Sy, Brisk & Kevin Energy) and Hardcore Nation (mixed by DJ Seduction, Stu Allen & Robbie Long), came out two weeks later. Seduction¡¦s mix had similar stuff to hardcore Heaven while Stu Allen had some classics in his mix! :P

Throughout 2005 I brought all of the Bonkers and got hold of many old classics along the way! I signed up to happyhardcore.com in October 2005 and ranted about Hardcore being better in the 1990s, even though I don¡¦t remember it from then lol

2006 was a big year! I discovered wikipedia.org and came across an article on Bouncy Techno! It was that summer that I downloaded a Bouncy Techno mix of 14 tracks a member of happyhardcore.com uploaded! Amazing! I also got hold of some new Bouncy Techno by Nu Foundation! :P By this time I was getting into Scottish. Dutch Bouncy Techno and it was something I listened to throughout 2007 starting with a free CD I got off a member of happyhardcore.com and enjoyed Hixxy & Re-con¡¦s mix on best of Bonkers, which ended with some very good tracks off the Dutch Ruffneck label! Another mix I got hold of was a Lenny D mix which I enjoyed a lot!

In summer 2007 I downloaded one of the greatest sets of mixes I ever had the pleasure of listening to; a lot of Dutch Hardcore, mostly Old Skool Gabber which I listened to for months! I was now listening to stuff by DJ Buzz Fuzz, a DJ I never even heard of before!

I decided to start mixing myself and for Christmas 2007 I got a Stanton CM.203 and now in the process of mixing myself! My first mix went up January 2008! Need to work on it though, something that will keep my occupied for a while I hope!

I am also slowly being attracted to hardcore Techno! Four years and my interest in music has come along way! I wonder what I will like next! At the moment (January 2008) my favourite track has to be Revolution Team verse The Snake - Let's Drum the Boomstick off Revolution Records! A brilliant track although I also think the Flow by Jeremy will have to by my track of 2007 (even though it came out in 1995) or maybe Pino D¡¦Ambini- Up & Down Bullz (Buzzy Goes BZRK mix)

when i was about 9-10 scooter were really big back in the uk was just out,and me and a few mates loved it,so i persuaded my mum 2 buy me there happy hardcore album which the track was on,when i started secondry school i strated geting into trance,i liked sash and i bought his album, but when i was 13 and in the summer of 99 my mate had bonkers 6 which wasn,t long out,and i had a pellet gun which he wanted and i didn,t really use it any more,so he offered me a walkman(which i didn,t have at the time)and dougals mix bonkers 6 so i said yeh,i enjoyed it so that christmas eve me and 2 mates were down in belfast and i happened 2 notice 2 copys of bonkers 7,1 was 17 quid and the other was 12 r 13 because the cardboard box was damaged,so i decided 2 buy the cheaper 1 lol, took it home and stook it on and i absolutely loved dougals mix, then a few months later i was down in belfast again with my mum and dad and my mum bought me bonkers 4(which i,d heard previously was a cracker)and they were rite dougals mix again blew me away,so i said 2 my self this music is simply the best in the world and i defenitly want 2 be a part of this scene, and the rest is history i proudly have all the bonkers lined up in order on top of my cd rack, along with numerous other cds and tape packs featuring all the styles of hardcore(which i started 2 get into as the years and cds built up)so that is my hardcore story and i only have 2 things 2 say

HARDCORE TIL I DIE AND RAVE 2 THE GRAVE

^^^ Thanks, I notice your into alot though, Fingaz so I wouldnt mind hearing how you got into it all lol and your story, Craigavon raver sounds interesting, I havn't come across alot of people to like Bonkers 7 which isn't the best in the series but it is ok when you get into it

You must be a year older than me as I was 12 in 1999 which was the year I started secondary school (in Poole schools start year 8 as its all in the 3 teir system) and im sure that the Bonkers would have caught my eye in the shops if only I went out more back then lol

Started listening to it as a way to stay up late at night when a friend recommended it to me. Yes WoW does bad things to you but I guess it's cool since that's how I learned about the music. I guess that was about half a year ago so I'm a real noob to hardcore. Before this I listened to a japanese hip hop/electronic band named M-flo :o I guess that's the only other kind of DJ'd music I've listened to as all the stateside hip hop I heard back then was pretty crappy IMO.

When I was young I used to like the Pet Shop Boys (we're talking 1980's), I really used to like the Discography album. That was my first taste of electronic music, I also used to be into Michael Jackson (who wasn't back then) and Technotronic.

I never really had nuch of a passion for music - I used to listen to stuff that was on and that was it. After starting high school my brother was my biggest music influence, he got me into the likes of Metalica, Iron Maiden & Nirvana. I used to get taunted alot in school becuase I was into the music before it suddenly became fashoinable to listen to guitar based music in the early to mid 90's.

In art class around 1995 we used to be able to listen to our own music on the radio - some of the boys used to bring in tapes recorded from Key 103, the legend Stu Allan. I think one of the first tracks that stuck in my head was SMD3 - I loved the sound of the keyboard in the breakdown. I liked the sound of Samplemania for the same reason. I started to ebjoy listening to the music but kept it quiet for fear of being laughed at (I had no confidence in school).

It wasn't until my dad had passed away that I started to get involved in drugs and music, I was hanging around with some guys and gals that where into Orbital, Moby & The Prodigy. I was ok to listen to that type of dance music in our group of friends. I had a chance to get my own radio and some free time, it was the same time as Hype's remix of Ready or Not was doing the rounds on white label. My brother had heard of it and asked me if I knew where I could get a copy of it. The only station I knew of that played drum & base at the time was Key 103. So I set about recording one of Stu Allans shows (I managed to get the track on the first tape I ever recorded).

On that tape was Critical Mass - Burning Love, I used to play it over and over again, I loved it. The whole tape was great. I recorded another one the next sunday, and it just rolled from there.

I stopped recording the shows when me and my bro moved in together, I could have my Prodigy CD's lying around but Happy Hardcore...no chance. We lived together for some time, I kept recording the shows on the quiet. After he moved out my mum brought me my first CD player. She also bought me my first CD - M8's Happy Hardcore Anthems Volume 1.

I used to listen to tracks on repeat and carried on recording the Key 103 shows, buying new CD's and the odd album on tape when I could. When my mates used to turn up I would hide my Hardcore CD's and tapes, I was embarrased.

Soon I started not to care what they thought about my music (thanks to my friend Paul, who to this day has never judged me and my music, he is the biggest fan of underground rock/metal/industrial music but has never slated me and backed me all the way in my quest to get the music recognised within my circle of friends). My music collection started to get so big I couldn't hide it when they called round.

I bought my first hardcore record's when I was out in HMV - Heart of Gold & Pretty Green Eyes, I only had a shitty record player but wanted them on vinyl.

The hardcore scene started to dye out, Key 103 moved Stu Allan and eventually the hardcore hour stopped. I like most, moved to trance music. I bought my first good record player and started to buy trance vinyl.

I was into trance for a few years but then that seemed to become stale for me, I still listened to hardcore every now and then. I bought Bonkers 8 when I was shopping - figured it would be nice to hear a new Bonkers since it was the first hardcore album I'd seen in the shops since Bonkers 6. I was really suprised. I knew for along time that hardcore was going to turn more trance based, you could here it starting to go that way from Shooting Star, Eye Opener, Virtual Dreams ect.

I started to get more vinyl again, Scott Brown being the best ones at the time. I got my first decks. Started to mix and then never looked back. I started to use these forums and realised just how much I know and love this music. I've mixed on internet radio on more times than I can remember. I've messed around with writting music but mainly collecting and mixing records.

Once upon a time when i was around 12 or 13 years old i heard my brother playing some kind of hard dance music. it was very uplifting and had wicked vocals. i turned to my brother and said "barry, what is this music you are playing". and he said its happy hardcore. and from that point on i started listening to happy hardcore!

over the years my tastes have adapted... i love freeform also and love cranking to gabber when im out.. in fact i prob prefer cranking to freeform and gabber than happy hardcore but i listen to happy hardcore more at home.... hardly ever listen to gabber at home.... what am i talking about, i love it all!
