IMO for rap it would have to be either Ice T - Cop Killa or NWA - Straight outta Compton

Seern the video, know the song etc.

Alot of people seem to be posting offensive songs rather than controversial. I wouldn't call songs like Cannibal Corpse singing about killing people then raping there cadavres as controversial. They're just done to get a reaction from people. Alot of songs are.

For offensive stuff you should have a listen to a rapper called Gangsta Nip's first album. Apparently a song was listened to when someone killed a cop in a routine car stop. Singing about killing sprees, killing police and their family's etc. Others come to mind like Geto Boy's, 2 Live Crew, MF Doom etc.

But I wouldn't consider those subjects controversial, just offensive. I'd consider controversial more about questioning society and the way things are run. For that you should listen to:

Public Enemy
Ice Cube's early stuff (Especially 'AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted' and 'Death Certificate')
Tupac's early stuff (Before he just talked utter shit about ho's and bitches.)
Immortal Technique (Alot of his songs are about the US Government. supposedly they arrested him and searched his residence under the Patriot Act)
Talib Kweli
Common
Mos Def
Also little bits of Jedi Mind Tricks, Lupe Fiasco etc.

Should listen to some Immortal Technique, does alot about the 9/11 attacks.
