ok, i will probably get alot of 'r u joking' and 'lmao' or whatever for asking this but i am still learning and only started producing (i say producing i mean messing about on FL) a month or 2 ago, but heres my question:
in all the hardcore songs, for example 'U R my phantasy' what is that sound that is the main component of the main riff, to make the tune. like i know it uses drums etc, but the main prominent sound, what instrument is that?

It's just a usual synthesiser :) Any synth can do that sound essentially. It's how it is programmed that makes it sound that way.

Your not being thick. How can you expected to know that which you have not been taught or yet leared.
There is sites that do host lots of VSTi's but it's worth finding out which ones are specifically good. Ones you cant go wrong with would be:
Novation V-Station
Native Instruments Pro 53
Native Instruments FM7
ReFX Z3ta+
Albino 3

ok, thanx alot, ill definitely check them out when i get home. i was watching something on youtube before, its dj kurt showing u how his cubase looks when hes done a song and he plays it thru, my god it looks complicated haha, ive got alot 2 learn

ok, so i take it u have to buy all these VSTis. Can any1 recommend any decent free ones to get me started (if they exist lol) or do i have 2 go to a website and buy one of the ones that hard2get mentioned?

google 'free vst' theres thousands........ not that good mind... couple of good free effect vsts like glitch, just a case of trying um out man
