When I'm playing a set, I usually play 12-13 non-vocal tracks and a couple of vocal classics as a treat =]

non vocal, vocals dont make it 'hardcore' otherwise.

both have their time and place. sometimes i think it's good to have an 100% vocal set, other times it'll be good to hear a non-vocal set, sometimes a mix of both is good to help break up the monotony of a set.
i really don't care though when it comes right down to it, but yes sometimes i do get tired of set after set of cheesey vocals.
there are good and bad for both types, but i think that it's all about finding a balance.

I personally like it non-vocal. However, if there is a vocal SAMPLE that is very limited in what it says, I like that.

Both but a bias towards instrumental tracks. Different types of vocals in a set is good too (Male, Female, Rap, Deep, Euphoric etc) - just mix it up.
Most of the mainstream Hardcore mixes I've heard all seem to have the same style vocals one after another which IMHO gets pretty boring after a while.
Oh and bodging a vocal onto a instrumental classic rarely works IMHO!
