Right,
Bought a cdj400 (waiting arrival) instead of a cdj1000 mk3 cos of the price difference for one reason!
would the 400 match up to the 1000??
i know the 1000 is the industry standard as it is the preference in most most clubs.
already own a denon cd deck and it has lots more features than the 1000; the 400 likewise.
is it money well spent?

I still think the 400 jog wheel would not even begin to compare to the 1000's. I think the 400 is more a cut price version with more bells and whistles where as the 1000 is responsive and excellent for what it does.
Not to say the 400 is a bad deck at all they should be great just many people that I have spoken to that have used them keep reinforcing that they are more an entry level deck. Pioneer always does great with their gear though so only time will tell.

agree 100% and i also find with the 1000mk3 it will never stuff up on you it's like indestructable lol i find the 1000 mk3 very friendly and easy to use compared to other decks that i have. basically the mk3 has all the basic perfect and thats why it's so good

i just wish my pio's had FX built-in like some other decks. But that's all i can complain about. Love these decks.

It's like comparing my dick to a thumbtack...
ok, bad example.
But the 400 couldn't nearly hold up to a 1000 but, it's up to you and what you want/need.

the 1000 has 3 hot cue's, you can adjust smoothness /resistance of the jog dial, the jog dial is more accurate, and you can plug in a SD card
th 400 comes has a usb connection (best idea ever for any music equipment) and you can illuminate the jog wheel

the 1000's have a wave image that shows you where breakdowns are as well. all of that though, plus the fact the 400 has usb connectivity, if you only want a cd deck for its functionality, the extra £339 per deck (or £678 per pair!) for the cdj1000 isnt worth it, imo
if however you are a sucker for having the best gear, i would stay well clear of the 400's. in time you will want to sell them and get the 1000s eventually, doing that will waste a lot of money and you will of had to use the 400's in the mean time so you might as well just take the plunge and get the 1000s right away!
i dont think it'll be long before the cdj1000 (mk4?) gets usb connectivity, so if anyone is thinking of purchasing id hold up :)
