What do you think of this? It dosn't mean that you have to stay on at school but have top be in further education or training!
Good points are alot of young people are able to go to get training which they might not toherwise but I fear that alot of chavs will join college and distrupt the rest of those who want to learn! I left school in 2003 so it dosn't bother me much.

Pointless IMO. People who don't want to be educated don't want to be educated. Those who do but don't like learning at school can already do work based training if they wish.
A complete waste of time and public money.
Maybe they should put the money into improving education rather than educating people badly for longer.

^^^ As the critics say. There might be some good points about it but no doubt some bad points! Bullying isn't a big problem in colleges like it is in schools but it does still go on like anywhere really! If these mindless thugs have to go to college they will take their bordom out on everyone else, although the chances are they will be on the 'training' courses rather than advanced level course and once they hit 18 they can drop out regardless of passing the course or not!
At least the courses I had are not what you would call 'chav' courses except for e2e which did have a few drops out who tried to spoil it for the rest of us!

I don't think this is a good idea; one thing I particularly enjoyed about college and now uni is a lack of twats (or at least less than school) turning an hours' lesson into a waste of time. Keeping the leaving age at 16 would be fully acceptable to me; why try and teach people something they don't want to know? Plus, some people are just not academically motivated. It doesn't mean they're necessarily stupid or have no common sense, but I know a lot of people would find 2 years of additional education a waste of time, where they could better spend their time working full-time.

^^^ One thing it does mention though is that you don't have to go to college or Sixth form but at leat be in training... There are a lot of inderpendent training providers that deal with nationly recognised quilifications suchs as apprentiships or work based learning programs (such as e2e)or similar courses in a 'none college' enviorment. Maybe the govenement should fund these more as a 'third option' rather than just school or sixth form and send all the kids who don't want to go to college else where! College do have chavs but they are not always over run with them (and some chavs do grow up) but it would be a shame to have kids going to college and spoiling it for the rest of us!
