Sony MDR-700 (worked great for a year. Then one side went dead.)

Sennheiser HD-25 (My favorite set. But im starting to lose the sound in one side.)

Technics RPDJ (used these for mobile gigs and recording. Already lost one side of hearing)

Sony MDR-650 (my first set of headphones. tried and true, these things still work. )

Nice little pattern here. They all die eventually in one ear.
So now it's these guys' turn.

damn headphones...... Can't say it isn't fun trying out all this different equipment though. I like new toys.

:D But you're right. I've heard that Senn has an excellent rep for fixing the can's. I did email Senn awhile back though (when the side first started fading) and asked them where i should go about trying to get it fixed. and still no reply. any suggestions?

so is it HTFR.com? Never heard of this site before. Thanks. I also can't seem to find the adaptor to plug these into my mixer. Would this site also have that adaptor too?
Im not really that much of a tech-guy so can the reason one side is fading be 'several' things or is it usually one specific part that gets messed up?

I think you need to look after you gear better. :P
Technics RPDJ (used these for mobile gigs and recording. Already lost one side of hearing)

I've had a set of these for 5.5 years and they have been around the country to parties but are still as new other than a bit of wear on the material.
I think it's odd you're having this same problem with all these 'phones... Maybe it's an issue with your mixer!?!?!?

Lol. i TRY!!! i swear.
But the mixer issue (to me) seems non-existant.
The Sony 7's, and Sens' also shared the duties with my Numark Mixer as well as my Mackie. The Technic's did get 100% Mackie treatment though. Perhaps if THESE Ultrasone's mess up, i could be swayed to believe my mixer could be the problem.
I always take good care of these things. Perfect example is the other pair of Sony's i have that have been working for about 5-6 years now. We'll see how this goes.

Yeah.
It sounds strange that a mixer could cause such an issue bit it's massively suspect that it keeps happening.
I'm no techhead but could it be sending a spike down one side of the headphone connection?...

im at work right now. but you've inspired curiousity :D
once i get home i'll see if all the malfunctioning headsets have the same side messed up. I already chucked my Sony 7's in the trash. so i'll check out the other two.
thanks bud.

-With the Sony 7's I remember the side with the connection-wire went out. (not sure what side that is
-With the Sen 25's I can't tell which side is which but the side withOUT the wire-connection went out.
-The Technics side withOUT the wire-connection went bad.
The Technics and Sen's were used with my Mackie mixer. If the new Ultrasone's bust on me and it's the side withOUT the wire, i'll be changing mixers the next day. Plus, using a 2 channel mixer is getting a bit boring.

Perhaps i'll give those a good flogging too. You never know.
These Ultrasone's are nice. It seems like i may have had an easier time beatmatching with my Technic's but these are doing the job nicely.
I still think the best sound comes out of the Senn's.
