are there any free trials of this?
it's pretty interesting but i only ever do real mixes using vinyl so the key of the mp3s i've got on my pc aren't my biggest concern

Hi Dain-Ja,
Which version of Mixed In Key are you using? Versions that you find for ahem *cough* free on the net use an older key detection algorithm that is not as accurate as the current one (version 3+). If you are using the newer version and getting inaccurate results, we would like to know about it. You can join us on our forum here: http://community.mixedinkey.com/Participate.aspx As far as mixing harmonically with vinyl, we have lots of vinyl dj's who use our software. They know how much they can speed up or slow down a record and stay in the same key. If you speed up a record past 3%, you know that you need to adjust the key accordingly. It's all simple math that our software will do automatically for you in the future. Cheers, Chad P Mixed In Key Business Development Coordinator

I have version 2.5
good to know there's been some improvements...I have a friend with v3 so maybe I'll try it out at his place and see if the results are better

I think harmonic mixing is important yes, but I think song structure is more important when mixing, especially live sets. I don't mix and think about the harmonics of tracks too much as you can often get around too much clashing by using your eq's smartly and cutting the new track in certain ways.

only half the work is done at that point. i've used the program before too, and even though two tracks may be in the same key at 0%, if the BPM are different then it won't be a harmonic mix.
they have to be in the same key while playing at the same bpm.
Agian the joys of technology, all my tracks are BMP'ed prior to being loaded on to my laptop there for when selecting a track i can see what is in the bpm range that i need.
And no shit about changing the pitch thx for the advice but i already knew, i have the program but there nothing quite like stating the obvious! Psssssssssssssssst it explains that in detail in the help files:)

You're right, sorry. I didn't come here to advertise. We just like to see what people are saying about us on the DJ forums, and drop a line or two where applicable.
Cheers all!

I think sometimes a clash of tracks can be a good thing, not all the time but sometimes. It can create feelings between tracks that each track themselves can't even reach! Kev Energy is a master of this! The depth of his mixes are groundbreaking, you can always appreciate this better when you buy a vinyl off his sets & you'll hear just how much he adds to the mies & the tracks themselves!
