In pop music, we are always hearing about 'gold' and 'platinum' artists, which has got me thinking, how many hardcore compilations get sold? for example:
Im presuming Bonkers sells alot but how many do you reckon? and in comparison, how many do you think HU2 has sold? (this imo is the best current hardcore album, but has had distribution problems, was just wandering howw many people got their hands on it) and im presuming Hardcore adrenaline 3 wud be somewhere in between?

A fair few hardcore compilations have gone silver/gold ( the first being Bonkers 3 I believe, though it took a while ).
I can't comment on HU2 sales figures as I actually have no idea ( heh! ), but it's safe to say it's a fraction of something like Bonkers. Which in turn is a fraction of something like Clubland Xtreme Hardcore.

the release dates are very well planned so this happens though :P not that they wouldnt get in anyways but they always get higher than they should cause there is nothing else worth buying at that point in time

All the big Hardcore comps get into the charts whenever they are released! But as there are always 40 albums in the chart at one time, I can't imagine 1000's of punters buying a HARDCORE album just for the sake of it! It really does depend on advertising or brand name getting a person who doesn't know much about Hardcore music to buy one! (which is why the MOS and Clubland ones sell the most- 3-400,000) and after the first few weeks they drop their prices! but the second tier ones after a few weeks like Nukleuz and Bonkers (when they fall out of the main chart) re-release it again at a cheap price for the "cheap charts" At the moment HA3 and B17 are £4.97 in the so called chaep charts! This is why I posted on here a couple of weeks ago about when you do you buy your CD?

Gold in the UK is 100,000 units sold, Clubland X-treme hardcore vol.1 went gold, in fact I think it went close to 200,000 units (don't quote me), most other comp sell upto and around 50,000 units, non TV advertised sell around 1000-2000 depending on promotion, DJ's and artists. But I've seen hardcore albums so as badly as 150 units sold.
A few MoS hardcore comps also did over 100,000.

i meant its a way to "fix" the figures so to speak. if you release when there is a load of shit that isnt being bought, then any album thats released thats good will move up higher in the charts :)
when people see a hardcore album thats higher up in the charts they are more likly to think "oh thats selling well it must be decent"

I'm not 1 to kiss and tell, some sold bad, some had little promotion, it's not to say they were bad albums just didn't sell because no one knew about it or no stores stocked it.
