Hey, i am looking at some Dj stuff around the net, since all the topics got me more interested. After a while i noticed that Alot of 2 way mixers, dont have any effects but EQ changers. I am in the US, and if u know any things that have some good effects and are from 150-350, plz tell me about them.

Another thing, that can help with the cd budget, would be vj's, i have been hearing about them, and was wondering if i could hook up a mixer to a laptop, and use my files to mix and all. I heard about tracktor, on a lot of dj's sites, i looked it up, but doesn't seem like its able to hook up a mixer, personally i would really want a hardware piece if i am going to be doing effects live, bc with a touch pad LOL, good luck. Oh, and this is for the future, not doing anything soon, going to save up doing the summer. (Oh, btw umm vinyls are hard to come by here, so i would like to stick to cd's or files, and i hopefully think beat matching will come hard for me, maybe my pianist ears will help lol) Thanks for any help :D

-ohh i just found this http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TotalControl/ its numark's total control, it like a midi for vj's it looks like, do u think i can work with tracktor or others, then i wont need to worry about effects ?

On the mixer front you can get a Urei 1601E mixer for £250. Very good quality mixer with good effects (for a built in effects unit anyways).

here is a review of the numark NuVj

The NuVJ allows DJs to incorporate images and video clips in much the same way as mixing music. With the NuVJ, the VJ can trigger images and video clips, add effects to them, mix them through an onboard DJ style crossfader and tweak them in order to create unique and spectacular shows. The hardware controller works seamlessly with existing DJ gear and the software is compatible with most computers and laptops. The NuVJ is simply easier, better and more affordable than any other VJ product on the market.

_ Video sample playback, looping, and effects from multiple sources
_ Automated play for stand-alone operation
_ Internal generation of artificial patterns and backgrounds (Visualizer)
_ Synchronization to audio in or internal BPM generator
_ Processing of external camera or other video input
_ Real time effects generation
_ Various cross-over patterns and functions between at least two Visual/EFX combinations
_ Library of small movies, pictures, graphic sets supplied
_ 2 banks of 9 sets of trigger pads for video
_ Big wheels for scratch, effect, and speed control
_ Automated one touch fade speeds
_ MIDI compliant – can be used as controller for various devices

available from : http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Numark-NuVJ-Video-Mixer-for-DJs-?sku=806143&src=3WPGWXX&ZYXSEM=0

CHEERS lol, perfect, man i was looking at this about 4 days ago, and really caught my eye :D thx for the help. Oh, one thing, i dont see anything about effects, does the software it comes with have them, bc the tiggers are for video's. it only looks like scratch, effect, and speed control can be changed, but if there are none anyways i can just mess with the eq and looping, just as good :D
THX again for your help to me and everyone lately

LOL, i was addicted into the the product soo much, i didnt notice it was not a bit for music, they talk like its "faders" and all that stuff and really just about all the music. SOO dead end there, lol i first want to put music into the stuff :D then maybe the video. I have to say its pretty good visuals coming from that. Sooo i think its down to 2 things.

I could get numarks master control and use Cue or Tracktor, which u say is better?
1. Effects
2. Mixing
3. Layout/Easy to use live
4. Quality
5. Overall
(if cue has better 1, then put like 1.cue 2. tracktor and so forth)

for anyone taking it serious it should be

1. Mixing. - a out of Time mix Sounds Horid!
2. Quality - with out this it can be hard! good quality stuff is a must
3. effects - shitty effects ruin the sound of a mix, like a shitty flanger or the beringer coppy of the pioneer there fx are shocking.....
4. Overall.
5. Easy to use layout - layout is not that importing as u will learn fast how to use the equipment.

Hope this helps bud

Happy Mixin!
