First time I ever used digital for mixing was in '99 with a DJ minidisc player I got.
cost me a grand back then.never cought on in terms of setups at any rave or club I ever went to though. :P
As for CDs I'm guessing it must've been around the same time as you could already find DJ CD players at music shops.

Pioneer came out with the CD-J concept around 94-95, the first hardcore DJ I saw using them was UFO and then later Breeze around 2000. Not to say he was the first, just the first I saw.

So it is possible that Bonkers 1-6 were mixed off Vinyl recordings?

It says that Hixxy mixed Bonkers 1 on three decks but I can imagine that most compilations are done on CD and have been for a long time. I know that Happy 2 B Hardcore 1 was mixed on decks.

Software mixing cds is just disgusting and says nothing about the skill of the dj who is mixing it. For all you could know it's be a 13 yr old kid at home and with a dj name on the cover.

H2H cd's are not mixed, calling that mixing is offensive

Indeed. It just shows that there is so little Hardcore in the US that literally any kind of rubbish will be released; and those CD's are evidence.

That was his Bonkers 5 I believe. I was told by an American DJ that Anabolic Frolic used vinly for the 1st 3 H2bH's. What I didnt know was that Frolic didnt set the tempo in those mixes, he just used whatever tempo the track was set as, and after he started using his CDJ's, H2bH ch.4, he had all the tracks set at 175 because he didnt have to figure out the speed for himself, the computer did it for him :|
