It's bleeding.
You may be able to fix it (as a short fix anyway!) by cleaning. Spray some electronic cleaner in there followed by a blast from a compressed air cleaning can, then hoover it out.
Cheaper faders do just wear out quite easily though, you will probably just have to replace it. New faders are usually £20-£30.

no point in the spray, get new crosfader as after another 20 mixes or so the bleed will return.
Happy Mixing

I've fixed old ones for a few months after a clean before.

lol spray is a quick fix for short time. In the long run just get it fixed, my mate had that spray your talking about,
I was mixing up a cracking session on his decks when all of a sudden the dam cross fader packed in.. Sounded Horrible wasted the 2hr hardcore mix i had been recording. lol thats why I don't recommend spray as a fix. If its Fooked Fix it, lol

Yeah is a quick fix but if you don't have money but have cleaner lying around it could tie you over. :) Does really depend what the problem with the fader is though... It may just be dirty, the solder may have come loose on one side from someone pressing on it or it may have just worn out.
IMO, if you have decent decks and a cheap mixer... Perhaps it's time to think about upgrading. Put the $ for the new crossfader into the pot and start saving.
You can get by for now with the upfaders.

btw is their any good type of cross faders? like are their differen types? and also wats a good mixer that has say 3 or 4 channels (dance type mixer) that would also last a while?

Quality mixer at a ****ing amazing 'end of line' price.
http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR195987 The Ecler range is also teh gudnis. http://www.decks.co.uk/articles/ecler_homepage/ Best options around at the mo'. Is it just a home mixer? If so, doubt you need the 3 to 4 channels, what're you using them for? If you just have 2 x vinyl and 2 x cd decks you only need a 2 channel... Are you running other things as well? There is dif' cross faders that are better quality but they're not all compatible with every mixer...

The best x-fader you can get are made by Pennie & Giles, They come on the Allen & Heath Mixers, The Xone-62 Club mixer Has this x-fader standard But these mixers are expensive, but as with anything in this business you get what you pay for.
If you enjoy scratching then I would recommend the Vestax PMC05Pro-Mk3 Mixer The latest version of the classic scratch mixer. The main feature addition is a send and return loop to add an external effects unit. Improved cut switches and higher quality knobs are also a welcome addition to the mixer.
Here is some spec for the mixer
Inputs - Phono x 2 (RCA), Line x 2 (RCA), Mic x 2 (1/4 inch)
Output - Line x 2 (RCA), Phones x 1 (1/4 inch stereo)
RMS Output -7dBm
Freq. Response - 25-25KHZ + 1.5dB
THD - 0.02%
Cross talk - more than 70dB @ 1KHz
S/N Ratio - more than 75dB
Input Impedance - Phono/56K, Line/10K, Mic/3.3K (ORMS)
Output Impedance - Line/2K, Phono/8K
Dimensions - (w x h x d) 262 x 103 x 320mm
Weight - 3.5kgs
I know people who scratch all day long on these mixers and NEVER have a problem with the faders or anything else and for 188 GBP your getting a great mixer at a great price.
I have included a link so you can have a look at this yourself.
Happy Mixing

Every single Allen & Heath mixer I've used has had a dodgy crossfader. ;-/ May be something to do with all the run down clubs in Oxford, London, High Wycombe and Aylesbury but still...

they do get abused in clubs tho, They used to have one in Archaos in glasgow and it was Fooked lol I saw it in cash converters after the place shut down and thought to myself think of all the amazing Dj's that played on that very mixer,
Scott brown, Hixxy, Brisk, Sy, Darren Styles and more, no wonder it was Fooked lol
But my mate has one thats not beed abused and its cracking.

dj buzz the best faders are not made by penny and giles. i believed the hype about them and was dissapointed when after about 6 months of scratching the fader started to bleed.
the best faders are the magnetic ones by rane, vestax, or ecler. iv had my rane for 2 years and caned the shit out of the fader practising scratching day after day and its still as smooth as new. they even give you a 5 year warranty on the fader. that says something. if it gets gunked up you can easily wipe the gunk off the rails and it slides like new again.
shame the eqs are bleeding on it now though. maybe they should look into magnetic rotary knobs aswell, that would be the ultimate mixer hehe
