Was bored today whilst doing my ironing (yes I know.....) so I got out one of my old tapes where I had recorded the Kiss 100 hardcore show on Tuesday nights.
Was a Slipmatt show and he played this song that he said would get someone in trouble because they'd sampled the words from rock the funky beat.
The singing part of the song was 'deep in the underground, plagued by my broken heart, deep in the underground, I want I need a place to start.....' or something along those lines.
I just wondered if it ever became known who made that track and whether they did actually get in trouble haha.

I doubt most things sampled with chuck d in it would get in trouble, he's one of the few people out there that is ok with using samples
the deep in the underground sample has been in several tunes, any way you can put up a clip?

It would be one massive law suit if he changed his mind.

Hi mate,
It sounds as though you are talking about "Axis" by DJ Solo on Production House Records, but it is from around '92 /'93.
Absolute classic tune!!!!

I guess both sets of vocals were sampled - they were only saying the 'if you really like to rock the funky beat, rock the funky beat...' vocals were 'naughty' as Slipmatt put it.
It's definitely not from '92/'93 - I guess maybe one of the original songs was but this was new in '96/'97.

Would be a bit of pot calling the kettle black then, as a great deal of Public Enemy tracks contain samples. Besides, he's gone on record giving the public permission to sample any Public Enemy material they can get their hands on.
