Ive started a track today and as no one has ever heard any of my stuff ive just put a 45 second intro clip on my myspace page.....link is in my signature.
Id be grateful if people would listen to it and just tell me if im on the right lines or whatever. I appreciate that it isnt brilliant, but i have only started getting into production lately and i am hoping to learn. thanx

You need to add some percussion to the track and replace the kick with a more powerful one to compliment the donk. If you're short on samples, download this pack I posted a few weeks ago and use some of the samples to fill out your track a little:

Most dance tracks use the same percussion, open hi hat, closed hi hat, clap, snare.
Listen to the samples in that pack, then listen to a few of your favourite tracks and you'll soon pick it up.

Yeah. Usually a ride too. And quite often some random lower percussion sounds to sit around the mid range more. Can be a good idea to layer hats or put in multiple ones to work together for an overall fatter percussion sound.
Agree with what's been said basically.

yeah ive only got one ride in there and it is pretty quiet, am lookin at adding hihats and snares at the mo, and ive added a new kickdrum and layered it a bit and ive made the donk a bit more adventurous in its rhythm. Just not sure about the actualy main tune, might have to play around with that, it sounds a bit like 'lobby music' to me (the actual tune) lol by that i mean the kind of thing a hotel would have on in the lobby to chill u out lol
