Just lately i've got really fed up of mixing & really cannot be arsed with it. I hope it's not because i'm getting older & starting to lose interest in it. I just recently bought some new choons & enjoyed mixing them for a couple of days, now i'm bored of it all again.
Has anybody else gone through this stage? If so do you have any ideas that i could use to get myself back on the dexx. I really need to get the love back for it. I used to think there was no better way of unwinding after being at work all day than coming home & spinnin a few choons up.

yup, I'll reach that stage about once a year. most of the time I'll just go play video games for a couple months and come back to the decks when I feel the urge. sometimes I'll dig through my older records, play with them for a while and that will boost me a bit too.
also, occasionally I'll just get tired of mixing and just spend an evening scratching

Happens to me too, I do what Brian does and just give myself a bit of a break away from it. I've recently got the urge to start mixing again ao I'm mixing a bit a night times, hoping to get a new mix made soon.
The worst thing I find I do is try to mix when I can't be arsed - it just gets me frustrated.
As for getting older and lossing interest, I doubt that very much. I think it happens to everyone. I also get times where I want to mix but can't put two tunes together even if my life depended on it.

My life is a pattern, mix some days, drink other days (or nights) play a certain game one day or just go out to walk along the beach or somthing! Im myself am working ona new mix & after alot of messing around my confidence is slowly growing! This mix is going to have a few stompers in it! Might order a new vinyl to put ona CD soon as miss checking my E-mails to see if anything has been sent off yet (I order through discogs mostly as there is always someone who has a classic im after lol)

I think it happens with everything mate.
I can't really comment on mixing coz i dont get a chance to mix enough to get bored of it.
But when it comes to production there are times where i just cbf mate. And trying to do something productive when you just cant be ****ed is counter productive.
I guess production applies the same. The thing i always say to producers who feel like they wanna quit is to take a break from it. If it takes a day, a week, or months to get the urge back then so be it. Itll come. If you truly love it youll get the urge back.

Yea that happens with everyone man. Sometimes I just wont be in the mood to do it all, but when I start thinking about it, and how fun cutting a track like Feel It by Orbit1 is, I wana get right back into it lol.

I have been producing for about 6 months although i'm not bad i'm also not great. I can put a choon together no probs its just getting it to sound professional rather than sounding like a home made computer choon.

Yeah i get this all the time. Sometimes i can't be bothered mixing for a week, but, it has last months. I generally can't be bothered mixing after work cause i'm on my feet all day and rather rest and listen to some hardcore or watch TV. So i mainly mix on the weekends which keeps my interest up.

get into a new angel of it. Start up a internet radio station or if u can get involved with a pirate radio station trust me,
If your starting to think about laying down the headphones then these ways will sure have u popping them back on and down the local record shop grabbing the latest tracks, Trust me, It works, If there ain't a radio fm station near u, start up online,
Hope this keeps u mixing for another 10 years to come,
Buzz

I like the sound of that. What would be involved in starting an internet radio station?
