I have noticed like on the "Helter Skelter Pres. Hardcore Classics" cd 1 mix, it gradually gets faster. How does a DJ do this without trainwrecking?

Whether he used a program or not, the end of the song would sound pitched a bit higher to match the next track's beat.

im guessing..well this is how i do it.
um you build up the tempo say you start at 170 bpm then the next song u mix in is at the same. once fin mixing and during the breakdown up push the tempo up a bit ,say to 172 and then u mix another song in at 172. push it up to say 175 for the next song during the breakdown. ect

I like to use luna c's dj tools, if you are trying to do a drastic change. If you are just trying to go a little faster, just pitch up the tracks little by little during break downs.

You pitch up the tracks while playing slowly, increase .5 BPM a track or something, 10 tracks later and your +5 on your BPM.

with CDJs that have tempo lock you can raise the tempo a fair bit at "good" spots without anybody noticing

I do it on vinyl by raising 1-2% at convenient times

Personally, I look for gaps where a track can be sped up or slowed down without anyone noticing. Like, a boom followed by silence before a breakdown starts, or a part where its just a hip hop vocal or something. These parts in a track allow for a quick speed up or slow down. Also, if there is a part with a woosh going up, you can speed up and it sounds normal.

Yea, thats what I tend to do, although I dont use speed ups to often. I normally just play all my stuff at 187 and keep it there.
