I really need help. I've gone from love happy hardcore, to trance, to hard house, back to trance, back to happy hardcore. I just love Happy Hardcore. I just got the newest addition of FL Studio, and I really want to know how to make some happy hardcore! I've seen some youtube videos that are just outstanding, but after fiddling around with it I can't get anything! What synth, what everything? Are there any happy hardcore packs? And if you're going to tell me what to do, please make it VERY detailed, down to every click! Also, is FL a good program to make happy hardcore with? What is your guys's favorite? I don't care, I just want to make some good, happy, euphoric music. Help!!

Any program (FL Studio, Cubase, Logic (MAC), Reason, etc. are all foine for making any type of music. Work with what you're comfortable using.

There is a sample pack on here that someone has posted up if you just look down a few topics. If you search this forum you'll also find tutorials on making bass, leads, etc.

Well what you need to do is take one part of Instant Hardcore and mix it with 2 parts of Production Skills!

Production is something that is really hard to pick up and do well, it takes a lot of patience and practice and requires quite a decent amount of music and software knowledge to do well. Reading tutorials and speaking to people help but you really need to sit down and figure out how to use a chosen program and how songs are structured.

Nobody can really tell you how to just make a good track, its slightly more complicated..

but how do you do things like have a synth/base/pedal go from being faded out and muffled to fading in and becoming clearer? Or how do you do a slow drum roll to going to a really fast one because I can't change the pitch without changing the pitch of the whole song. Hope I'm not too confusing =/

For the drum role use the step sequencer and then just put the drum sample down more frequently and speed up etc. For the fading thing the only way iv been able to fade anything is by making the sample first then saving it as a .wav file then putting it down at the bottom and on the options of the samples there you can do different fades and stuff....But like i said i am a real amateur i dont have a clue about using all the different effects and stuff there really is alot of good features on there for a budget product.

Tbh i started on a simple drag and drop programme called Ejay to give me a general understanding of how things are done, but FL is very complex for me....iv seen Dj's using Cubase before aswell and that really blew my mind i was totally lost lol

But what coopshire said is a good idea, i didnt know there was videos etc so i think il be having a look on there aswell.

hey thats not bad for a first attempt
what i would do is speed it up though...
i think all you have to do is lower the notes down a bit and spped up the tempo so it dosent change that much if at all....
(i dont use FL so i cant tell if thats pre-made or given by the tutorial)
also you should add more bass... make more jumpy it was kind of plain

You never NEED vocals. :) Can't listen to the clip at the mo as I'm at work.

FADING - There is several ways this can be done.

  • In the piano roll, set the velocity so it goes from low at the start to high at the end, this will gradually raise the volume.

  • Lay down another block on the track layout (below, above or where you have space!) so that it starts on the same beat as the thing you want to fade, set the volume control for this instrument to the volume you want to start out at. Hit record and start playing the track from before the drum roll (or whatever you want to automate). You can now raise and/or lower the volume for this instrument, as you want it, while the track plays out. When you play the track back the volume change would have been recorded. Be sure you remember to name this pattern as automation so you don't go trying to put a lead or another drum pattern in it. :)

  • You can use this same technique to automate just about anything! You can get a much better fading sound for leads and stuff by automating a filter effect.

Hope this is of some help to you.

I can help you out best I can over MSN (if you ever catch me on there :P) [email protected] or pm if you like.

That song sounds pretty well for the first attempt :)
Its a little bit to light imo. But the Melodys good and the structure is also right.
You should have picked a more distorted bass maybe.
