For those who don't know a Hoover is
quote:
Hoover sound refers to a particular synthesizer sound in electronic music, commonly used in Hard House music and other styles. Originally called the mentasm or reese, the name that stuck was the one likening the sound to that of a vacuum cleaner.

Many early 1990s tracks from The Netherlands toke on the Hoover sound made by the Roland Alpha Juno-2 synthesizer using the WhatThe? patch.

My favorites includes Short Circuit - F**k Me (Rotterdam, 1993) which I can imagine blareing out of the 1993 raves, a very noise orinated track with other funny sounds!
Humand Resource as you might well know from 1990 (commercial success 1991) and DJ Waxweasel's 'Hardcore Power' (Buzz Fuzz's remix from 1997) & similar sounding stuff such as Buzz Fuzz's Jealousy is a MF from 1997!

Best track I have heard though has to be 'I am the creator' by Turbulenzia which I can picture a monster that they only let out at the big events & the monster of a sound goes crazy swiming round the ravers! Beast of a tune yet I don't know what label it came out on!

For those who don't know in the UK a Hoover is a vacume cleaner made by a company called Hoover but now most vacumes are called hoovers!

What are your favorite Hoover sounding tracks?

im quite the opposite - i think its very boring and makes ALL tracks sound the same. (hoover, donk, hard house.. theres a pattern forming!)

also, ive never heard an hoover (vaccum cleaner) sound like a hoover (the hard house hoover)

it does sound like a hoover......just imagine the hoover going up n down then imagine a hoover sample with a pitch curve :)

hoovers, acid etc etc are like our guitars in genres of dance and people dont complain that every rock track has a guitar do they???

^^^ That girl needs to clean up her act! In London (Great West Road) there is a factory building called 'The Hoover Building' which is well known for it's Art Deco style & part of the site has a Tesco which also had to build the 1930s style! Wonder if the building has ever been used for any raves playing any Hoover based tracks?

Im listening to a mix which I downlaoded which has some proper beasts in it! It has the 96 verion on Human Resource's Dominator but dosn't have the Hoover sound, it has the 'Im bigger, bolder, rougher & tougher, in other words, sucker their aint no other' bit & 'I wanna kiss myself' & has some very pounding kicks & a classic techno riff but isn't a Hoover track!

Im going to stop being selfish & will give links to all these mixes I found later & also work on my own later!

Anyone else with any recomendations of good Hoover tracks?

Yer but this was the early 1990s when ecstasy was the thing & everyone was hyped up, no one would have wanted to kill themselves at a rave lol

Here is the youtube version of the original version, sounds very early rave here & I think that it was just classed as 'Techno' back then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1pzvapaR1E

The discogs page: http://www.discogs.com/release/59900 Here there is what seems to be the earliest release on an EP called 'Dominating The World' on a CD as the forth track.

This is the version that was realesed in the UK, the first Human Resource release of 1991 with 3 remixes, one being a 'radio mix' http://www.discogs.com/release/6546
