Checkout this track i've been working on. It's a bit of respect to the old skool Hardcore sound of late nineties with a bit of a new style trance twist. This track is still in the making but I was wanting some feedback & ideas as to where to take the track next. Cheers

Yeah mate, I like that breakdown. This is just the start for the track.

Here are my thoughts:-

The bass doesn't work... You want a very solid gritty sound for this sort of track. Especially considering the vocals used.

Same with the kick, It doesn't boom at the low end nor does it click on the high end.

The open hi hat isn't... high enough. Layer in a higher sounding or use a dif' sample. EQ may help but not enough in this case I shouldn't think.

Breakdown is nice. Vocals aren't need during IMO. Makes them far to repetitive through the track and... the bass isn't pumping hard at that point. ;) Maybe use them in the build up only if you must have them in the break? I think you don't need them on the section just after the breakdown either, maybe drop them again at a bridge leading up to a second break if you're going to add one?

The clap sounds a bit weak, like a fruity dance sample. Scrap it IMO.

Closed Hat, ride & some energetic snare rolls please! ;)

The lead needs to drop in with something stronger when the bass kick in IMO.

Second breakdown or something else to the track needed IMO. Get your thinking cap on. :)

Sorry if that all sounds a bit negative but I think you have a good basis and these bits plus a few more technical issues on the mixdown being sorted will bring it up to scratch. :)

I could have just told you it's great but I think this will be more helpful for you!

Keep working at it mate you could make this a fat track.

Hope this helps.

Thnks for your time Bulby, feedback from yourself is always greatly appreciated mate. I know that this track has a long way to go but you've given me the advice & ideas I need, to take the track to the next level. I made this track in a couple of days aswell but I knew that it had potential the day I started it. I'll give your ideas a go mate and let you know how I get on.

P.S. let me know when you fancy making a track together Bulby. I know I can make wicked melodies it's just my percussion that let's me down just now.

No problem mate. :)

Yeah, we will have to work on that collab soon! I'm right in the middle of a track now but I mean we could start getting some ideas together. You got a riff, hook, pads or anything like that you wanna get into a new track?

okay, i know bugger all production wise, but it definitely sounds as though this track has potential. the breakdown is pretty damn good IMO and i'd like to hear the rest of the track after a few mods. good luck with it mate, with a bit of work could be something really good.

Cheers meathead, It's still got a long way to go but like you say, it's got great potential & i'm sure it'll become a pounding hardcore track soon. I'll keep you uptodate mate.

Euphory, it's a bit of respect to the old skool hardcore sound of the mid 90's with a bit of a trancey breakdown so if you want a name, it's nearly Trancecore:-)
