Yeah smoogie, things have become a bit predictable mate! Don''t get me wrong, a lot of older Hardcore had a cheesy, vocal style but let''s be honest, it isn''t a cringeworthy as some of the stuff that comes out these days!
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET A HARDCORE COMPILATION WHEN WE DON''T HAVE TO SKIP A TRACK!!!!
I find myself skipping most of my god damn albums away. I can''t remember ever skipping a track on Bonkers 1 - 7 so what''s going on. Mabey we could blame a lot of the Hardcore Compilation DJ''s for, without doubt, giving us these cheesy tracks in every f*&%ing album! Or the people who think that, that''s what hardcore''s all about. Endless vocals, shocking lyrics & cringe worthy, poofy styles!

90% of hardcore tracks seem to use a chubby kick from the vengeance packs......pisses me of i rarely find a kickdrum i like and will use out of a pack......i like tampering and layering different kicks to get the sound i need/want......to many templates are in use imo.
i love a good vocal track i do but its kinda gone into overkill......theres not much uniqueness like there used to be.......so so dull and copycat nowadays......every other track is a vocal track with no identity.
i love it when i hear a track thats going somewhere and not using rules....unfortunately these get overlooked by most :(
i could rant forever but cant be bothered......there my views and probably almost no one agrees :P
the end

Totally agree.

Hardcore used to be about throwing in influences from anywhere. You used to get ragga sections followed by dark strings then an uplifting vocal and piano breakdown. Also mixing up the beats between 4x4 kicks, manic breakbeats or 2 step beats. Only people still mixing it up at higher tempos is Luna-C & Kniteforce Again or at lower tempos the Hardcore Breaks crew. Personally I love the variety and thats why I'm really only interested in the stuff mentioned above.
One thing I've noticed is that if you take some modern UK Hardcore tracks and pitch them down from 175 to 140-150 bpm it sounds exactly like a pop Trance track.

Yep, we agree. Most try to fit the stereotype 'cos they want to be rich and famous and it all adds up to a load of samey shite.

Can anyone honestly say that they haven't had to skip a track on the newer albums? ( apart from Kev Energy!) :-)

I'm not into skipping so much because it breaks the flow of the mix. Some songs I really can't suffer though (Re-Con - Beating of the Drum for example).
Its definitely not a new phenomenon though! Some people generalise too much, and jump to the conclusion that if they don't like the new stuff that comes out as much as the old stuff, it must be because its not as good... I think we should consider personal factors first, like evolution of your own music tastes! There's some songs I used to love and I find myself skipping because they just grown old to me personnaly.
The same could be said about certain types of songs, and certain more typical riffs that have always been around, and that are still making the new ravers go crazy, since they weren't there in the old days.
I personally LOVE when a classic and anthemic song is being re-done with today's technical possibilities, giving it a well deserved update. Of course, its a question of hit or miss, and some re-makes sound horrible, at least to me.
I find its also a huge generalisation to say that today's UK Hardcore sounds like sped-up dance/trance. First, it has always been the case, as a LOT of oldschool 90's Happy Hardcore songs sounded ridiculously close to 90's eurodance when slowed down. And second, it is NOT the case of ALL the new releases, and a big proportion of the new UK Hardcore incorporates influences from all over the place.

I have got loads of CDs and if there is one where I have not skipped any tracks on it would have to be Next Generation Collection V2.

yeh saying it sounds like trance slowed down is a bit of the mark,as i know when u listen 2 upfront hardcore u here trancey stuff toughened up r faster, but when u actually listen 2 alot of trance the type of style is nothing like wat u find in hardcore tracks(if u get wat i mean) sure look now much trance has changed these days,go back 2 the late 90,s stuff then 2days trance they sound nothing alike

i think the uk scene needs to produce more gabber style stuff
like scott brown, brisk & vagabond and lethal theory have been kicking out
we needs soem kind of savage freeform/gabber/hardstyle cross over
but i always consider gabber proper hardcore

It ain't what it used to be... HC doesn't do for me anymore :/
Hardstyle here I come!
Although I have to admit I am much into trance as well, especially with Aly & Fila pumping out awesome sets and tracks. :) I just love their latest track, Aly & Fila - Dynasty (http://youtube.com/watch?v=j8ydtug6tXk )
