In my quest to be......half decent at music production :p ive finished another track. i decided not to use lyrics for this one (except one small sample) and to just go back to basics and try and create a tune that sounds quite good.
The track is on my myspace and feedback, will be as ever, much appreciated.

My URL doesnt always work :s but if you copy and paste it into the browser then it should work fine.
The track is called 'Oh Sh1t' and should be the first track on my myspace page.
Thank you, much luv!

tbh, not my cup of tea.
Kicks need to be better, bassline need to be better, percussions aswell. Also dislike the lead synth sounds like what ''mario'' or ''Nintendo'' would use for they games. But keep practicing and get/make diff sounds! Oh and also I think you need to 'layer', hope that helps!

haha thanx for your honesty, i mean i really dont pretend to be a pro, so any feedback is good for me. Yeah i can layer that and make the bassline a bit better. I was unsure about the percussion too.
I must say though i really am struggling to get a good sound out of the 3x osc on FL so if anyone has any tips there id be very happy!

You can get a really good sound from 3x osc but you rather use a VST instead, there is on called 'z3ta+' which is well known. Try getting your hands on that and running it through FL. I'm sure you'll be able to find some awesome sounds using that VST.

What's already been said but....
if you used an effect, like a Delay (echo) on the 'Mario' riff it would transform it into something more interesting.
The Bassline is out of tune with the 'Mario' riff and that makes the track sound off.
Put a Delay or Reverb on the vocal sample and EQ out a lot of the Bass frequencies and that'll sound more, erm.... atmospheric.
Give that a go for now and see what you think. :-)

ok, well thanx for the feedback peeps, it is much appreciated.
yeah ill try messing around with delay etc and see what happens. As for finding my 'own' sound, it is very mario esque at the minute haha and im hating it too!

you are on the basics, bass, kick and lead, but theres a lot more you can do. it is all part of the learning process, keep practicing and experimenting and little by little your tracks will be more complex and sound better.
I say this because Im still in that process and Im still discovering things.
for example when I started I used one single Synth for a lead sound, but now i have learned that I need 2 or 3 Synths, plus effects, EQ, etc, in order to make the lead sound I want. and the same with the kick, the bass, pads, everything.

Ionosphere, i like what youve done there... but im afraid donk is my style haha.. no im joking!
Just wondering how on earth do you make the white noise filtering (the lifter just before the break down)
I can make the white noise, but getting the filtering is proving difficult.
I have used amtmosphere by Spectrasonics but cant seem to get automation to work with cubase, other than that im stumped!!

honestly thats your view on it. working as project industrial we often dont even use synths.... managing to get a sort of 'lead' out of kicks with a shitload of effects over it. it really depends on what you prefer to use.
as for beginners i would say take it easy one involving to many things at once becouse in the end you got a good track but you have no clue what you just did. start it up easy play around with effects (mainly wot ionosphere said with the echo / delay) theres not much u need as beginner imo. but as i said each got his own way of dealing with things
my final word forr you redwingz.. you control the basics. dare to take a step further ;)

Just used what redwingz had already done and added Delay/EQ so you'd be better off asking him.
We use a Roland 505 which has White Noise as a preset, filter it with the knobs and audio it or, alternatively,
find a sample and try running it through a Filter/Distortion/EQ/FX etc etc. until you're happy.

First off thanx everyone for the comments, its really encouraging to know that people are willing to help.
Ionosphere: that track that you have done is wicked haha, thats how i wanted it to sound in the first place but obviously me not as experienced.
As for the white noise filtering, are you refering to the big 'swoosh' kind of noise that starts loud and eventually dies down just before the breakdown? If you are then thats a sample that i have.
