Dude. On iTunes there are BOTH CDs for download (the full mixes) and there are little fade-in fade-out radio edits of every track in the mix.

Exactly, and whats the point of having a hardcore compilation which fades in & out, you're missing the best bit IMO!! Besides I've already listened to both if you read my original post.
Have got it now anyway and I like CD2 a lot more than I first did, Nothing There is such a tune.. when is it released again?

He means that there are full mixes that don't fade in and out in addition to the "per track" things.
"Nothing There is such a tune.. when is it released again?"
Next Monday, on vinyl ( RFU012 ). A week later, digitally.
:D

Hardcore Nation really never really blew me away. I mean, it wasn't bad..but the only disc from all 3 volumes of hardcore nation that blew me away was Stu Allen's disc from Volume 1. I'm listening to the samples. They don't sound bad, but nothing exciting for innovating. Pretty much standard.

Low quality short samples don't give you good insight into what an album is like, though. I WOULD in fact call this volume exciting and innovating, and most definitely not standard. Due to the tracks themselves, but also due to the way the mixes are done. I'd give it a shot if I were you, you may be pleasantly surprised. ;)

Part and parcel of the compilation market these days is the ability to sell via iTunes as well, unfortunately in most cases that means making the individual tracks included on the mix available in addition to the mixes themselves. Obviously with the figures involved and the existing climate where labels are already finding it difficult to make money, these are often reduced to 'radio edits' to ensure that there will still be demand for the 12" / MP3 releases by the respective labels themselves. So thats why you'll find the fades on such tracks.
The mixes themselves and the CD release are not edited in any way, so they're free to do what we intended and create DJ mixes that you too will hopefully feel are greater than the sum of their parts.
To the people not into the breaks tracks on CD2; fair enough, I know they're not to everybody's tastes, but you can't please everyone all of the time. Breakbeat hardcore has been criminally under represented on albums and event lineups for a good long while now, and as it represents part of what we play and produce, it would be illogical to omit it them from the tracklist just to make the album more commercially appealing. We are what we are etc. It's far from just a modern take on an old sound imo, the tracks are all upfront and as technically sound as anything else, they just don't have a 4/4 kick.
Hope you enjoy the album!

I really love the breakbeat bits from the RFU guys, I've got quite dissillusioned with the 4/4 happy stuff lately and it's really refreshing to hear something different like the breakbeats on albums like Hardcore Underground 1 and Wow 10
I'm gonna try HU1 cd 3 on my D+B loving mates on the way to footy tonight, see what they think! Can't wait to give them a blast of Code Of Silence too hehe

Gonna go grab a copy of this on Sat! Been trying to avoid listening to the samples so that it's all a bit fresh to me when I get it! No doubt I've heard some of the stuff played out though.
Really glad to hear there is some breakbeat hardcore on the album! Wicked stuff. Anyone saying it shouldn't be on hardcore albums can sod off. :P Variety is the spice of life etc.

just got this today. gotta say, i'm really disappointed with CD1. there wasn't a single tune that stood out for me and the one's i can remember were pretty bland. then there's the DJ's intro's, really did my head in, why not go the whole hog and chuck a couple of MC's on their? i just think it would have been so much better as one consecutive mix, not 3 mini mixes.
but for all CD1's downfalls, there was light at the end of the tunnel by way of CD2. absolutely amazing mix. was well worth the wait just for CD2. 1, on the other hand, meh.
bring on HU3!
