If things are going the way of Sharkey's mix on the latest Bonkers, then I' totally fine with that. I thought that was of the best Bonkers discs in a while. It combined all the elements.

ok i got de-humanize by scott brown. featured on bonkers x.
then i listened to futureshock from bonkers 17..
then i listened to im a raver by sonic state and ms storm..
then i listened to hardcore junkie.
then i turned on clear vu - i adore. then i turned on Your Guiding Light from B17
it hasnt changed that much...
whats ur point btw??

Why does it matter what dance genre any given hardcore track takes influence from as long as it tears it up on the dancefloor? There are still quality, darker freeform tracks being made, lots of it on Nu Energy. Shame about Electronica Exposed though... that will be a big hit to the freeform sound.
One thing to remember is that what Sharkey plays on Bonkers is NOT necessarily definitive of freeform. He likes to throw a little bit of everything in there.
Listen to some stuff by Lost Soul, CLSM's hardscape tunes, Invader, AC Slater, the FINrg crew, most of the artists who have appeared on Electronica Exposed, even a lot of the most recent Nu Energy releases... you'll find a ton of variation, with some dark and some uplifting, but by no means "clubland" hardcore.
Even Darwin, who is arguably the hottest "mainstream" artist on the scene atm is widely varied in his sound. I challenge you to find a cookie-cutter "clubland" tune that he has made. He runs the gamut from drum'n'bass to freeform to happy and back again, so I'm not sure really where your argument is coming from.
