What do you think of this type of hardcore. I don't mind it. Something a little different. Think it's mostly from Spain. But some of the UK guys are catching on to it too.

Yeah some of it's really good!
Check out the mix from Kaptain S on my site "It's Good To Feel This Way", he's a really talented young DJ from up here in the north east - mixing up some upfront Makina with UK core and some older stuff too

I dont like new style makina (hardstyle & 150 bpm makina hardcore) but i like "base makina" & melodic makina.
- Most makina tracks are little slower (155 - 165 bpm) than UK happy hardcore.
- Makina is from Spain but also French & Japan are makina makers nowadays.
- Makina goes between happy hardcore & hardtrance (just my opinion)
"DJ Meke: first and only makina - happy hardcore - freeform dj in Finland"
Maybe i could bring my "Twisted Makina" dj mix to here :)

Makina

Mákina, Bakalao, and Poky are electronic music genres originated in Spain, similar in sound to UK Hardcore, but with certain elements of bouncy techno among and other differences.
The spanish electro sound is usually characterized by its synthesized pads and has a weaker yet higher pitch, a punchier kick drum than the similar UK produced tracks. This style of electronic music is produced mainly in two areas in Spain, called poky in the central plateau of Spain, and bakalao and makina in the Mediterranean shoreline, Catalonia and the Valencian region.
Bakalao music and Makina, are quite complex in sound and composition, and boast more agude tones. It also has traditionally more elements "imported" from other kinds of techno, due to the proximity of Ibiza, (Balearic Islands, Spain). Its commonly accepted[who?] that Bakalao was born in Valencia in the 80's, and since then has spread all over Spain, evolving in the Makina subgenre and Poky.[citation needed]
Makina is also popular in North-East England, since clubs and events such as After Dark 2, The New Monkey, Hangar 13, ThePowerhouse, TheBeginning and TheAsylum promoted the style.

One of the first vinyl i bought had makina on the B side...It was an old skool remix of "I need your loving" on the A side i think lol (was many years ago). Im pretty sure Silver told me it was Makina i just assumed it was kind of trance core that was around at the time. If anyone knows what tune im on about let me know because i absolutly loved that song lol.

Some of the new are nice, but I cant say i really like the older ones, they sound farely the same throu the whole songs.
Compared to UK Hardcore, makina is ment to play fast, but I guess they press it at 160-174 (I have actually not seen a makina track slower than ~164 personally) to appeal to the techno fans

I like Makina, well, the cheesier stuff. And I love to hear those loud, high pitch noises laid out over the tracks when a DJ mixes Makina.
