I hate to admit it but piracy is the way I heard about happy hardcore. Without youtube or limewire, I really don't think I'd ever hear about happy hardcore. You see, happy hardcore isn't really that big here in Canada and a lot of my friends listen to mainstream trance/techno and commercial music so it would have been hard to get around to listening to hardcore without the help of youtube and such. I kinda think it's good for hardcore because it introduces people like myself to something that's hard to come by around here...and im sure im not the only one in the same situation.
Like it or not, piracy introduces a lot of people to some sick beatzz without having to purchase them initially. For example, after hearing happy hardcore on youtube, i was hooked and that led me to buy some happy hardcore CD's off of ebay...(Anabolic Frolic actually has an ebay account where he sells happy 2b hardcore CD's WHICH ARE HARD TO COME BY). All in all, piracy isn't that bad, if anything it's getting more people hooked which subsequently leads more people to go to shows and buy CD's.

The way i see it is, if you download anything (music, games, movies or software) illegally then you dont get a right to complain about hardcore being pirated.

Ha Ha, your such a horrible git. Can't say I don't agree with you though. And Dain-Ja fair play man, you know what it's about.
I really couldn't care less about UK hardcore; I think it sounds complete shite save a few select; won't knock anyone who does like it, just saying. As far as artists/"teh scene" being damaged through file sharing is concerned; yes obviously the less people buy legitimately, the less money for the artists to reinvest and produce more tracks etc. but at the same time they must now come to expect this and realise there is nigh on sod all that can be done about it, so my point is simply this...
If you are foolish enough to enter into music production thinking you'll breeze through and make cash, then you're an idiot. We all know this is happenin so don't go into it, invest all your cash, get sod all back, then moan about it, because to be honest, it's not like a million warnings aren't out there on this matter.
Produce as a hobby and get a real job on the side. If i produced music, i wouldn't care if people shared it, coz i'd want people to enjoy it and i wouldn't count on it for my main source of income coz you'd be thick to do so.
Yes i know this will mean less will be produced, anyone who's thought to tell me that, its ok, i got it; i'm talking purely from a business and monetary stand point. Love your scene, buy your cd's to support it if you want, that's great good on you, but don't piss and moan on behalf of these artists who throw all their cash and time at something with such a low return like they didn't know what they were getting into.
I don't mean to be harsh or anything but that's honestly what I think. I'm sure some of you will have a problem with that and that's fine, your thoughts are as valid as anyone's.
Now if you'll excuse me, i wanna see if CDJay has had any more rants at me on Darwin's behalf down to the rigged Hardcore Heaven awards. Damn propaganda, fascist pigs. have fun.

to collaborate on what Jester mentioned.
Artists should earn money on what they produce, not on what CD combilation/mixes they appear on.
Making tracks as singles (or artist CDs) should (but doesn't) generate more money than a bloody combilation.
Releasing on CD/digital maybe isn't the best thing, but it sure hell would appeal to a larger consumer base than just vinyl gives.
Well the bottom line as both sides of Piracy agree's at (well most of the anti piracy side that is, we all know how the big labels sees things); You can't get away from piracy. You can try to limit it, but it will still be there.
When it comes to MP3's not selling well.... START MAKING INTERESTING MUSIC GOD DAMMIT... For the past 6 months I've barely bought any tracks. I've bought over 1000 songs digitally since 2004, and for the past 6 months, I dont think I have even bought 50 (excluding the Next Gen MP3 store, I bought around 60 tracks from there :P, but 95% of those tracks where made before 2005)...
