I've recently got Fruity Loops & stumbled across Kev Willow's Tutorial videos on Youtube, you may have seen the video with this melody in it. So I decided to remix the melody into a a full track & this is the outcome. I definetly needed this track to push me in the right direction & am really grateful to Kev for letting me remix it & let you guy's hear it. This has to be my best attempt at a Hardcore track so far & i'm sure you will agree. So here it is, any feedback is always appreciated, Good:-) or Bad;-) Cheers

Yeah kevs tutorials are absolutely wicked, ive learnt alot from them and i know exactly which melody u mean. its on the d/l.
waiting........
like how the hithat varies in volume, thats something different. like the sample too that seems to go really well with the track.
woohoo theres the kev willow melody lol, sounding wicked (not keen on that womans voice, spoils the build up a bit).
main beat/melody is really good.
Oooo the breakdown is cool! that weird bit about 3min 50 in is pretty cool, breaks the track up nicely
Yeah man, wicked track, like this one. Liked your mix, liked your last track and now i like this one

im giving it a listen now dude!
im really glad am helpin people out and stuff thats great!
right i remember ya showed me this before the other day/week lets see if its any better
that do do do do turn that down a little dude seems a tad loud
i like that vocal what you've got didnt hear that last time but that fits well dude
that female vocal don't use that dude!!
its really good for ya first attempt at hardcore this dude!
everything seems to be in the right place
turn the delay down a little on that vocal dude or just turn the feedback knob down a little bit
youve got the idea of what ya want from the track i can see that dude!
you know how i feel about that filtered sound its amazing dude but remember to put ya bass underneath it dude! ya forgot that again!
nice hard snare!!
yano what dude everythings in the right place everything is brilliant dude!
just for starters dont worry about mix downs or anything just yet just focus on tryna get each individual sound at a good volume sio that one sound isnt too loud for another that ya cant hear it and stuff dude!
like for example ya main melody it drowns out some other parts of the song like the kick and stuff so just adjust volumes and see if ya can get everythign to sound alright
i dont mean liek turn ya lead all the way down so we cant hear it but try and keep everythign at a level so it can all be heard
brilliant attempt this though dude
especially for ya first attempt... shud hear mine haha ridiculous haha!

Cheers Kev, that means a lot mate. I've still got a long way to go but I think i'm getting the hang of it mate. That's one of my biggest problems kev, trying to keep evrything at a certain volume so that nothing is getting drowned out. When I layer my percussion it sounds wicked but at certain points of the track, it gets over powered by other synths & basslines. Can be a bit of a pain in the arse. I'll take your advise & go over all the levels & try and find a medium. Thanks for the feedback kev. Much appreciated
if you get a bit of time, PM through MSN & you can let me know what bass & melodies need changing mate. Cheers bud

What's already been said and possibly the EQ and timing of the male vocal could be sharpened up a bit....
but yeh, it's another step in the right direction.

Do you pan your percussion? Things like hats, rides, claps and general percussion should all be panned a bit to create space in the centre of the stereo field for the leads, etc.
I tend to pan everything about 30% left or right.
Something like this:-
Open Hat 30%<
Closed Hat 30%>
Clap 30%<
Ride 30%>
Of course pan whatever you want in whatever direction as long as it sounds balanced. Play the track with just the percussion and make sure one side isn't louder than the other!
If you have layered a sound make sure both layers are panned in the same direction or it will thin out the sound a bit... It would be wider but a bit washy, you want drums to tear through the mix so this isn't good. Obviously don't pan the kick or any on beat percussion you've used to beef up the kick as this drives the track so you want it nice and centred.
I tend to look at frequencies when I'm doing this as well. Try and pan the sounds that are nearest on the frequency field in opposite directions to create more "space" for them.
One more thing you can do is used the EQ but this is a bit more complicated. Take the percussion sound that is getting overpowered by something and drop your EQ onto it. Stick a big boost on the EQ around the frequency that the sound peaks at and play your track at the point the sound is getting drowned. Sweep the boost on the EQ up and down the frequency and find the point where it sounds clearest in the mix. Either fine tune this EQ and use the boost to fix the problem or if you had to steer very far away from your original sound you will probably find you need to use a new drum sound.
Will have a listen when I get a sec mate. :)

I was talking about the EQ's, it wasn't a knock on you or the track

To be honest Bulby, i've tryed panning the percussion before just out of curiosity, on some of my past tracks but I haven't tryed it on this track.
As for the EQ, this is really new to me & i've only just opened an equiliser on my music package. will get things remastered the best I can but I may need some help with it because all i'll be doing is turning knobs & listening for change as i'm not clued up on this side of things but i'll definetly give it a go mate. Thanks for that.
I mainly pan a few melodies to try & seperate the different sounds and frequencies but I suppose this would really help the track overall. Thanks for all the ideas so far lads. feedback is always appreciated! After all I wouldn't learn if everyone told me the track is great. & yes the female vocals will go next time round lol. They haven't had the warmest reception:-)
No worries Mortis, This is definetly not my strong point:-)
