Hi
When I get my decks set up I will upload some of my mixes for you all so you can sample what it may have been like to be 'Raving' in it's heyday...1994 & '95!
From what I have heard of tunes like Panic 2007 Remix and Floor Burn, some of the harder tunes from back in the day will also mix well with the modern style, shame I aint got no modern stuff!!!

Excuse me if I am being rude, but the link of your next Dutch mix is not very well mixed.
Sorry to say but that is my opinion.

I put that up a few weeks ago, working on a new one already! I have been mixing for 6 months now...
Have you been mixing for long?

Sorry again mate, it was not meant as offensive or a piss take.
I hope your enjoying the 'decks' and you will get better. Just practice every day or so for a few hours, know your tunes inside out and try to be original. There are too many bland so-called DJ's.
I have been doing it since 1993 with decks (belt drive) then got my first 1210's in '95. I started mixing in '91 on a tape deck and one record player by switching from tape to phono! Somehow, occasionally I would actually get the mix o.k, but I would'nt recommend trying it!
Concentrate on matching the beats (with or without BPM counter) before you try to mix, otherwise you will never get better. It is tedious but a requirement (in my opinion) to a successful set! If your beats are all over ther place, what is the point of trying to chop another tune in!?
Keep going mate

^^^ No offence taken, have been working on my next one alot latley & have made alot of changes & have enven maneged to beat match one track, its not the best beat match but not the worse either, like you said it is getting to know my tracks so I know which ones are easy and ones that are not so lol
I try to use alot of veriety & try to ignor only keeping things in certain styles as these days it seems that Hardcore is all sub devided & only dominated by the mainstream! I try to belnd Happy Hardcore, Bouncy Techno & Gabber into mixes with a few newer tracks as there is nothing more boring than listening to a mix which is just the same throughout!
Never heard anyone trying to mix with tapes but it dosn't sound that easy!
Im looking forward to your mixes anyway as you seem to like the stuff from the mid 1990s which imo is the best era for music over all, even none Hardcore stuff was great in those times!

The best raving years of my life were in 1995, going to places like The Rhythm Station, all the big events at the Sanctuary and most of the big outdoor events too.
Your right about trying to be individual in your style as it is so easy to get gogged down one genre. I heard a guy once in London at some event called DJ Monkey....(can't remember last bit) and he mixed Hardcore into D&B into House and Techno. It worked quite well although it' not easy!
Depending on my mood, I would say my style varies from long beat matching aka Brisk to complete chop up aka Ratty.
I do love my Bouncy Techno, which can be somewhat faster than Happy Hardcore, so it can be quite tedious working out a set plan! Although my best sets are when I just throw 'em together.
The newer sound appears to me to be very late '90's Hardhouse which is what I played and listened to when Hardcore (in my opinion) wa way too cheesy.

^^^ I know one guy who throws in the odd DnB tracks & maybe an older Techno tracks to try to keep the mix interesting! Im not into the new style as it is very watered down when compared to the classics lol
