@ jenks: im pretty sure 'creationist nut jobs' believe in dino's, they just didnt survive the flood mate. Too big to fit on the ark, dont ya know? But seriously i think creationists miss the point a bit. I would hardly say Genisis 1 is supposed to be taken literally.

You'd be surprised, I've heard them theorise that Satan planted fossils around Earth to sway their faith.

You know, I thought 4chan had a rule that it's illegal for anyone under 18 to view the contents of the site? Or are you just looking at encyclopedia dramatica or something (then again that site is just plain disgusting).

I say this becuase you're posting 4chan memes everywheree. :x

about Carbon Dating: please people! its only (relatively) accurate to 50000 years. the half life of carbon is just too short for any real outputs above this time period. in fact my history teacher is trained in archeology. in Unias a demonstration of carbon dating they killed a fly and then dated it the next day. the fly was 6000 years old apparently.

the main dating for any real result is uranium dating. uranium 238 has a half life of 4.5 bill years and uranium 235 has half life off 700 mill years. However i was reading something a while ago that said scientists are starting to think there is a natural process through which the half life of uranium can decrease by up to about 80%.

carbon dating is accurate to 5000ish years? i though thats was as far back as it could date(actaully 5730 years from my study notes). and it has an accurace of +/- 30 years.

an entire skeleton that WAS reconstructed to from bones found in the location to form what the scientists believe to be the most plausible shape. mind you the reconstruction is usually done by a computer so im willing to believe the output.

Who builds and programs these computers that compile an output? It wouldn't happen to be humans would it?

yeh werpogram it, but the computer runs so much more efficiently. Try giving 20 scientists a bunch of bones and telling them to fit them together without telling them what animal it was.

Michelson and morley expt was quite interesting actually. almost an ingenious design, practically holeproof.

umm 50000
not 5000
where the hell did you get 5730 from?
and just a quick check... hmmm, 60000 years http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiocarbon_dating

but my m8 reckons people make bones bury them and uncover them and take photos and its all a conspiracy...
what proof other than god using fossils to test believers faith is there to disprove solid evidence??

Absolutely none (and "goddidit" is no proof either). She sounds like she wouldn't listen anyway, but maybe try to point her to that video series (the link is in my post, page 1)? Or, if she does want to read up, talkorigins.org - it smashes every creationist "argument" to pieces.

Sadly, most of the goddidit dumbass crew prefer to cover their ears and go LALALALALALACANTHEARYOUGODDIDIT. Pathetic.

haha solid evidence that

a) random chemicals managed to group favourably to form amino acids? bugger all

b) those amino acids grouped themselves together favourably to form complex organisms through random mutation? even less - particularly as mutations usually a)recessive or b) lead to infertility. c) this is for sure - as mutations come from genetic screw ups, they would all be different and at random times. It wouldnt be one particular mutation that suddenly becomes epidemic through a whole species. while one mutation may be strong enough to become dominant in reproduction, the spawn would usually be a mule.

c) not to sure about this, havnt done enough research. but. while scientists think they have specimens of beginning and end species (end specimens definately) and maybe some of the intermediate stages, im fairly sure they have never managed to find any halfway examples between one stage and the next, which there should be because these things dont suddenly happen over one generation.

just keeping you honest... =P

yes i do find this quite annoying. if they are going to make a stand for creationism they really should base it on their own scientific inferences.

Try getting a computer to put that picture together without any programming ;)
