i've been spinning for a while now, and finally got a mixer that works and doesn't bleed at full volume. i thought it'd be a good reason to record something. i did it in one shot.
yes, there are some shoddy parts, yes, the EQing is off at parts, but yes it's also pretty decent i think - decent enough for me to put my name on - and short enough that if it sucks, you don't have to listen to it for long. there are about 5 tracks in total.
i've listened to some your mixes (good and shitty) that you've uploaded, so anyone wanna take a listen to this? feedback would be appreciated. i'm sure there are some people on here that'd like to have a go at me, so c'mon.
(plz and thx)
it's 25 min, and 17 megs.

weird. i just tried it and i got the option to download.
i'll upload it to a different site too i guess.
(apologies for the clipping sound at some points, all i'm really looking for is feedback on the mixing parts. if anyone thinks it's listenable, i'll consider recording some more stuff, and working on the clipping sound. not sure why it's doing that to be honest...)

i've been very nervous about uploading anything ever. i'm shy and quiet, so that's a big plus.
i just came to the conclusion one day that anything i'll do will never be perfect, and i should share what i love with other peeps.
so thanks for the (+) feed back.

Meant to check this out before but forgot, soz 'bout that mate.
First, the clipping - main thing to do would be lower the Input level on whatever wave editor you're using, or the Output level on your mixer, so that you never clip. Play a few tunes to check the levels first off, try mixing two tracks to see what the levels are at then and adjust accordingly.
Also just check the levels from time to time as your recording a mix and adjust the Gain knob on your mixer. That would be best really to try and keep at about the same volume throughout (exluding breakdowns obviously).
Now onto the mixing. Not too shabby fella, few mistakes here and there but we all make 'em and it's nothing drastic.
Might want to throw a few quicker mixes in though, ie bring in the cued track after the 1st breakdown of the track playing, just changes it up a bit. The EQ'ing - I usually turn the bass down of the track i'm bringing in when i start fading over to at first so it's not too over-powering and makes for a smoother transition.
Hope this helps mate.

thanks man. i'll try that out with the bass being turned down, seems like it will help a lot with some of the problems i was having.
the reason i had it turned up that loud was... when i played it back, the recording seemed really low. im guess i can tweak around with it after it's been recorded and up the volume.
i'll try to tweak around with it a bit because the clipping is annoying.
thanks for the input and taking the time outta your busy day to listen. i'm going to work on polishing stuff up a bit and putting together a finished product.
cheers.

Ah, that made me chuckle lol. No worries mate.
You can record your mix then, in the wave editor, either Normalize the file or Amplify it but don't allow clipping and it's sorted then.
