Samination, quit talking out of your ass. There is still freeform. It has mutated, but it's still there. Ephexis I would classify as freeform. Lost Soul, a good bit of Darwin's tracks, most of what comes out on Nu Energy, Kaotik, Relentless... just because it isn't distorted kick drums with 303 lines buzzing around for 7 minutes doesn't mean it isn't freeform. Under your argument, there's no such thing as UK Hardcore either.

I prefer to talk throu that part thank you very much :)
Most people hate labeling their music. Just in this case. It might be freeform still, but it doesn't feel/sound like freeform to me.
I maybe shouldn't nagg as much, I buy what I like. Is just that I miss the stuff from before 2006

I agree with everyones comments here its nice to have a good discussion about this!!
To me Freeform has always been hardcore. I work in the hardcore scene and out of the hardcore scene and since the dawn of time of me buying records i have brought many different styles of hardcore and artists. I got Baby Boom, Remix records, Next Generation, Ram records, Impact records. Random swiss records, Lenny Dee etc etc etc
I play Hardcore in a freeform way.
as a form of hardcore it changes as the producers within it changes. It does have the beauty of being anything it wants to be so i love just searchin out artists and labels that constantly keep my search for different records going.
ten years ago our hardcore was more underground. Then new artists join and add their own element. The Finnrg boys added their own culture. Then ya get S3Rl adding a bit of fun and bang. Darwin is going nuts making hardcore for fun, you have Resse from California making dangerous breaks. You had the times when K-Komplex and AMS got into freeform and now Arkitech. And as ever you cannot you cannot ignore the one off beautys that get ya feet hopping. It goes on and on a rolling stone that gathers moss. It will upset some people as it changes as the mainstream scene will govern what ya can open up minds and floors with. You cant just play underground for the sake of it. We need to spark and ignite people into new sounds
As a scene there will always be a more underground element that sits alongside the mainstream end of hardcore. We must embrace this as we embrace our own Freeform culture as in those raves are our futures as their will be others like you that get into it as a form of hardcore as they will want to experiment. It may annoy people with the way it changes as its not the choice of just me. As a form of hardcore its up to everyone to play their part and buy records that are outside of the box so as a scene we can diversify and satisfy the forever enquiring mind but still keep the floor interested!!
Yeah i play ravey at HTID sometimes with vocals i have to they need opening up to new sounds. when i get to places like Adelaide or Quebec or Freeformation i can play anything i want which as a D.J is heaven. coz they want some dirt and they wanna go underground and they will take a bit of Kickdrum and they want some cheese as well as they love their hardcore!!
thats my ramble over with anyhows hehe
always think outside of the box. play it all, buy it all, love it all

Kevin Energy is also coming to Quebec this summer, so we'll get another great Freeform experience directly from the UK at last ;D I really loved his last set here!

Freeform has got quite a good following, alot of people from the hard dance scene regard it high.
I do have the Freeformation boxset which is something id recommend any 1st time buyer of the stuff so you get a rough guide on it.... but they'll always be something better than that you just have to look harder :)

Hell yeah. Freeformation is awesome, especially the older stuff on disc 2. Could've used more FiNRG stuff though.

I love freeform. Unfortunately though, my favourite style seems to have disappeared. I loved the harder stuff that used to come out on Bonkerz, Digital Beatz, Bedlam (the early releases), etc.
Still dig the stuff coming out now though. I'd love the Psy Trance sound to be explored a bit in a 170bpm style. 8-)
