if my point haven't come across (which i dont, with all my jibberish), I'm with Bulby_g, with tracks from Digital Beats/z and Bonkerz, but mostly I miss the more "epic" (or rather, fast sounding, but not high BPM) tracks released on early Relentless

But yeah I am a freeform producer and as has already been said, 6 minutes of 303's is not the only freeform. By definition freeform is anything goes. Out of all the tracks on my album, theres 5 tracks that are obviously not freeform as they are dnb. Theres 1 happy hardcore style track, and the rest are freeform.

I wouldnt listen to anything Samination says, he's full of shit to be blunt, and he clearly hasnt listened to my album because Dimensions isnt even on it due to it being a Nu Energy track.

I remember when the first Trancecore stuff started appearing and being quite taken by JAL stuff. I liked the combination of the Breakbeat elements with the acid riffs and trancey breakdowns. It was IMHO doing something a bit different as there wasn’t anything comparable at the time. I lost interest though as the Breakbeat Hardcore elements started to disappear leaving effectively Fast Hard Trance tracks. Now I don’t dislike Freeform but I lose interest after a track or two, so its fine if Freeform is being mixed up with Breakbeat Hardcore, Happy Hardcore or D&B but I can’t listen to an entire set of it.

I can understand that it will appeal to a lot of people and has probably attracted Hard Dance fans into the scene but personally I’m too much of a Breakbeat fan.

uhm, i think the happy hardcore scene is changed in last years. today happy hardcore-uk hardcore is more similar to vocal-trance style than an hardcore genre. we can listen to some songs, that are just accelerated (and sometimes not much) vocal trancey songs. old school was a defined hardcore style, not an hybrid between hardcore and vocal trance. for this i think the better today is freeform, it is the most fresh and original style on hardcore scene.
we can also consider nu style gabber, better than old style gabber.

Oh! Will you name some examples of Bouncy Freeform for me?

A few tracks on Sharkey's mixes on Bonkers 15 & 16 have a bouncy edge to them, like Duel illumination & DJ Entidy's Spice!

I really don't follow much but Marc Smith apparently does some bouncy freeform (see press release quote below) no doubt due to his past Scottish roots as you'll likely know. I've heard this one and it's fairly good.

first post wooo! anyway for me, freeform isnt realy my cup of tea but i still get intrigued by it and have a listen to all the new tracks. Its good to have it their as an alternative to the more mainstream uk hardcore sound which is still what i prefer. I went to htid in the sun this year and that confirmed it for me that hardcore is still my number one! but the freeformation night defo rocked it!

Yeah that stuff was brilliant really dutch sounding and bouncy aswell as using the hard trance style. Used to be right into all the freeform few years ago, was listenin the Marc Smith b2b Kev Energy from last uproar at sanctuary other day still think its class.

Jus for ages now whenever hear any is so disappointing, really standard hard trance or jus cheesy stopped bothering keeping up with it.

Yes mate, wicked wasn't it! A revival is needed.

I'm working on a remix of Kai Tracid - Liquid skies at the mo which has a hard sorta intro with low bass, gabber kicks etc. I'll have to hit you up with a copy when it's done, nearly there now. I know you aint that keen on the core these days but you might like this. :P

You read my mind! And you're right on about Nu Style Gabber > Old Gabber

One of my favorite things about Freeform is how much variation there can be. So it appeals to my many tastes. Like, some of my favorite Freeform is experimental like "A Type" by Arkitech and "F*ck the Rails" and "Donkey Punch" by JB Project & Gammer. I can't really listen to a set of like what you said "sped up" vocal and/or poppy trance. Maybe a couple songs I'll like though.

And you would ALWAYS get pissed of for the little thing...

Anyways, Dimension might not have been on the CD, but I have listened to samples from it, and I only bought the 2 last tracks from the CD from junodownload.

And you, you who said a or 2 year ago that you HATED the stuff you made under your name i wont mention, yet you've started to make it again... who shouldnt listen to who?

I find Firefly's Dreamspell 2007 one of the most spiritual songs I've ever heard. The agony in that vocoded voice is really deep and meaningful. I don't do drugs but that song moves me. Great job Firefly!
