I'm like living in the past as Old Hardcore (with Breakbeats) is so much better! In fact with Hardcore Breaks about I'd argue I'm not living in the past!

Loving my hardcore breaks at the minute too, but that is living in the past really. The whole point of hardcore breaks / Nu Rave in general, is to bring back the feeling of the old days put with added upfront elements to it. Least that's how i see it.
And Bugbear's right DnB isn't hardcore and it's still probably not as big as Gabber anyway. You got to remember it's not just us in the UK that listen to Gabber, It's everywhere.

lol Dude I still got DJ Impacts old Akai S3000 Sampler. Never use it tho - got tones of old Samples Zip Disk's from Stompin' Choons, Nu Energy FBI etc etc etc - Really should go through them n sample stuff off.
95_was_the_time:
I agree that back in the 90's hardcore was really good. I love my old skool and the sounds of how it was back then.
BUT.....
I think that is what it is, old skool - that’s what makes old skool. Why regenerate an old style n sound to what was well over 10 years ago? What’s the point of having all new synth’s, production tools & quality of sound if your going to go backwards?
Leave the old stuff to the old era and look at the new.
I've been a DJ for over 10 years and a producer for over 6 years and I love the style of hardcore now. It branches off in too many forms: Party-core, Uplifting Vocal, Freeform, Bounce etc etc
It shows how the scene has progressed in style and sound. I mean, between 95 & 98, it seemed to chance every year sound n style wise. Now....we have a set style that kind of stays the same but evolves – if that makes since?

I'm sorry to say this but I know where 95 was the time is coming from. The stuff that he's talking about, the commercial side of hardcore has really slipped. I know what he means about sigh. I love sy. He is a legend of the scene but when you hear some of his new tracks they just lack a hardcore edge. Kinda like he's turned into a big softie u know. It's hard to explain. Things like samples & vocals sound so manufactured & fake. To me it just doesn't sound as good as it used to. I know that hardcore is really struggling now beacause my brother used to be more of a hardcore head than me but now he can't even stand to listen to the new Hardcore. When you look back at all the original bonkers he could still grab anyone & put it on & love it as much as he always has but when it comes to the nu bonkers & Hardcore Heavens, he can't listen to it. Why? My Bro likes music that pushes boundaries & inspires him so I can get away with the Kev Energy or Sharkey CDs (cause these guy's really are pushing the boundaries) but the tought of a nu Sy cd or Brisk makes me turn into a big ball of cheese.

This is like so many other arguements.
Xbox Vs PlayStation
CD Vs Vinyl
Cheeses Vs Milk (ok maybe not)
But it all falls in to the entertaiment war as Music, Gaming, DJ etc are all form of entertainment in some way.
This dispute will never end - not matter how strong one side of the argument is.
The term for "95_was_the_time" is Old Skooler

Just point him in the direction of other comps.
IE Hardcore Underground 1, really pushing the boundaries on this one, couple of years old now but still the tunes sound so fresh.
Hardcore Nation: Next Generation as long as he steers clear of CD1 i would of thought he'd really enjoy this CD again pushing them boundaries.
And if he likes (or can tolerate) the freeform discs from the Bonkers series, then i'd defo recomend Freeformation: Wise Up, Get Stupid. Brilliant album for all your freeform needs.

It may have started like that but its moved on. IMHO its all about variety. Too many people use genres as boundaries rather than just guidance. Its getting worse as more and more sub-genres emerge people are getting more and more restricted about what they play. Eventually there will be so many sub-genres that every track in a set will sound the same! NuRave Hardcore Breaks is one of the few areas where people are trying to incorporate as wide a range of influences as possible.

It didnt come from hardcore... dnb was around before hardcore... hardcore spanned from dance and was dubbed the rave phenominom and drum and bass emerged in the late 80's and some was just an offshoot of uk hardcore in the early ninties. it then became its own genre. therefore it is in no way a hardcore subgenre..

I feel the need for a shameless plug lol
Check the mix out in my sig nothing restricted about it ;)
You're sort of right a lot of DJ's are becoming less adventurous with what they mix, but you do find the odd mix lying around that's full of variety. There's actually a good few been uploaded on here by memebers. I've already said mine but check out DJKenMasters recent mix "Journey Into Sound" and Bulby_Gs latest mix. A lot of variety out there you just gotta find it.

From what I know is Acid House came in 1987 which then became rave. Breakbeat came out of rave & out of that came 'Breakbeat Hardcore/ Jungle & Drum n Bass'
The history of rave music & it's sub genres is complex. Hardcore is said to have dates back as early as 1989 when Hardcore Techno came which spawned Gabber (?)
And as for verity in mixes, my next mix (it's not up yet though lol) will have Upfront,Old Skool, Happy Hardcore, Bouncy Techno, Happy Gabber, Early Gabber, Nu Style Gabber & even a bit of 'Bouncy Freefrom'
Indded other members have had some very good mixes in the past few years, they know who they are...

who cares about genres and sub genres, as long as the musics good... the mixin is half decent..
its all about good music, which theres a lot about within hardcore, as said.. you just have to do some digging and fine it..
