ok i think this prob sounds like a bit of a stupid question but what actually makes cubase better than fruity loops?

iv got both now and have been learning fruity loops for the past few weeks and dont know if i should spend my time learning cubase aswell or just practicing on fruity loops coz fruity seems great to me!

Neither is better, its how good the producer is. I use fruity loops and if i used cubase id still be shit, just like if Gammer used fruity loops he would still be ace. Its more about the plug ins and the samples that you have and your knowledge of music rather than the actualy programme u r operating

two things i like about cubase over fl

cubase supports multicore processing fl dont which pisses me off like you wont believe

cubase has fx lanes under each track which i find alot better than fl.

other than that fl is ****ing great and i wouldnt put it down for a second :)

cant say it beein 100% sure but my guesses are that cubase is stated as proffessional producer gear and fruity loops as beginner. yet both of them are equal in things you can do with it. i prefer FL atm simply bcuz its so simple in use. many tried to get me on cubase and i will eventually give it another try (cudnt figur how to config it before :P ) but why would i switch if i can do pretty much the same things with FL that i will be doin in cubase. :) got loads of cubase vst's tho which are fine to use in FL aswell just like cubase has a FL plugin so you can basicly link the programs :) which proves that both are capable to the same things i guess..

either way... its up to you what to use, go with what suits you best

one day i might venture over to cubase, i just find fruity a lot easier to use and find features

yes thats true.. mainly becouse of the mastering functions done in cubase. can master your tracks perfectly while it might be somewhat of a problem in FL sometimes :)

It used to be a case of Cubase being better than FL but not anymore.... they're pretty much the same thing now just do everything differently.

Cubase has better recording capabilities... but i record in adobe audition anyway?

Theyre the same thing mate. Get what suits your workflow better... although cubase is a lot more expensive than FL and theres no demo available.

got copy of fruity loops 8 studio. and i must say, I was very very impressed with it! nice features and support for VST's :) also noticed a rewire to reason function which im sure i will enjoy!

All in all Looks a very very nice package, and some healthy setting, sounds and other fancy things to play with.

fl is so much easier for the new producer to pick up & use straight away, cubase on the other hand is not. shit loads of tutorials on youtube for fl too
