There is a very simple solution to "How does it sound on a mono soundsystem?": insert a "monoizer" as the very last (or before limiter/maximizer, if there is one) plugin in your master fx chain. FL Studio has this "stereo width" pot for every channel, so just turn it to 100% narrow. A nice and fast external plugin for this is Widebug - http://www.betabugsaudio.com/dl.php?id=13.

And of course everyone makes their music in stereo nowadays! Kicks and basses sit dead in the centre, but percussion is panned, leads and pads are often stereo widened, secondary motifs and acid/melodic lines sometimes fly around the stage, and for fx - almost anything goes. None of this should be extreme or very noticeable unless you really know what you're doing. Remember that panning makes the track more "spacious", but also decreases the impact and tightness of your sound. It's often better to do some EQing instead or even replace/remove the instrument.

Hope this helps. :)
